The Foundation wheels are a tribute to the original ENVE road wheels which were introduced to the market in 2007. Each wheel in the Foundation collection features a host of exclusive technologies essential to earning the "best in class" designation. These wheels benefit from a knowledge base established over more than a decade of development of the premium line Smart ENVE System (SES) aero wheels.
To achieve the low drag and high stability performance provided by the rim shapes, ENVE took the broad lines of SES rim development, with the main difference between Foundation and SES being that the Foundation rim geometries are matched (front and rear ) while the SES rims feature specially optimized shapes for the front and rear positions of the bike. Thanks to this development, the ENVE Foundation offer similar or better drag reduction than even the most high-end competition wheels.
ENVE Foundation wheels are only compatible with Tubeless tyres, note that these wheels have been designed to perform best when paired with a 25mm tubeless road tyre, of course they are compatible with Tubeless tires fitted in an inner tube for the most reluctant. Please note that a list of compatible tires is defined by the brand.
The ENVE Foundation also feature ENVE's Wide Hookless Bead technology. This technology is defined as a wide surface of the rim flanges. By creating this greater width the impacts of curbs, potholes and debris are distributed over a larger area, reducing the likelihood of a pinch flat. In addition, this feature increases the impact resistance of the rim.
high-end hubs, the Foundation Road hub utilizes the proven ID360 40t ratchet drive mechanism and ENVE's maintenance-free automatic preload system aptly called Perfect Preload™.
This system eliminates the possibility of the hub developing play. It also eliminates the need for the consumer to adjust the preload themselves. As for the bearings, the Foundation RoadHub features fully sealed, premium NTN steel bearings.
