Foundation wheels are a tribute to the original ENVE road wheels that were introduced to the market in 2007. Each wheel in the Foundation collection features a host of exclusive technologies essential to achieving the "best in class" designation. These wheels benefit from a knowledge base established over more than a decade of development of premium Smart ENVE System (SES) range aerodynamic wheels.
To achieve the low drag and high stability performance provided by the rim shapes, ENVE took the broad outline of the development of the SES rims, the main difference between Foundation and SES being that the Foundation rim geometries are matched (front and rear ) while the SES rims have shapes specially optimized for the front and rear positions of the bike. Thanks to this development, ENVE Foundation offers similar or better drag reductions than even the most high-end competitive wheels.
The ENVE Foundation wheels are only compatible with Tubeless tires, note that these wheels have been designed to be most efficient when paired with a 25mm tubeless road tire, of course they are compatible with Tubeless tires mounted in an inner tube for the most reluctant. Please note, a list of compatible tires is defined by the brand.
The ENVE Foundation also features ENVE's Wide Hookless Bead technology. This technology is defined as a large surface area of the rim edges. By creating this greater width impacts from curbs, potholes and debris are distributed over a larger area, reducing the likelihood of a pinch puncture. In addition, this feature increases the impact resistance of the rim.
A premium hub, the Foundation Road hub uses ENVE's proven ID360 40t ratchet drive mechanism and maintenance-free automatic preload system aptly called Perfect Preload™.
This system eliminates the possibility of the hub developing play. It also eliminates the need for the consumer to adjust the preload themselves. When it comes to bearings, the Foundation RoadHub features fully sealed premium NTN steel bearings.
