The Shimano CN-HG54 chain is a 10-speed chain specially designed for mountain biking and touring, but it is also compatible with the Tiagra 4700 groupset. It works directionally, which increases the smoothness and performance of gear changes. (HG-X technology). On a performance scale of 1 to 3, the CN-HG54 ranks in midfield.

HG-X

The MTB-specific HG-X 10-speed directional chain is the next development in drivetrain quality. This chain allows for smoother shifting, saving weight and increasing overall system performance. The outer face has been optimized for the front drivetrain thanks to a design adapted to the shape of the chainring teeth. The inner side of the HG-X is optimized for the rear drive and guarantees high drive performance. The different sides are marked to ensure correct assembly.
Please note: high transmission performance can only be achieved if the chain has been fitted correctly. If the chain is fitted upside down, the chain may jump off, resulting in a high risk of injury.

Dyna-Sys

The asymmetric chain, especially for mountain bikes, ensures smoother gear changes, reduced weight and optimized functional performance of the entire system. CloseStep dimming reduces jumping between gears, allowing the chain to run more efficiently and reducing the risk of chain jumping when shifting over rough terrain.
