The Safety Edge, for a clear view even in the aero position

The Strake is the evolution of the Aeroshade 2.0 Titanium, the pair that won the 2026 Tour de France according to Scicon. Its signature is the Hi-Contrast lens whose lower edge is slightly turned outwards: that is the Safety Edge. The rest keeps what made the model's reputation: medical-grade titanium arms, a vented front and a height-adjustable nose.

Matte black version with a category 3 Multimirror blue-green lens: Scicon states 11.4% visible light transmission. It is a dark lens, made for riding under strong sun and on roads that reflect the light. The matte black stays discreet and goes with any helmet.

Features

  • Hi-Contrast Performance cylindrical lens (SCN-PP) with Safety Edge, base 6
  • Panorama Arch front design, 144 mm wide, 143 x 58 mm lens
  • Medical-grade titanium arms, soft adjustable Tactigrip tips
  • Materials: titanium and Grilamid TR90, 40 g on the Scicon scale
  • Ventilation vents against fogging
  • FlexiFit 2.0 nose pad with Horizon Adapt height adjustment
  • Laser-engraved lens, hydrophobic, oleophobic and anti-reflective coatings, blue light filter and UV protection
  • Interchangeable lens; compatible AC028 prescription insert (optional) for glasses wearers

Strake or Aeroshade 2.0?

On paper, the two models have the same dimensions (143 x 58 mm lens, 144 mm front) and the same weight. What changes is the lens: on the Strake, its lower edge is turned outwards. Scicon highlights three benefits: less risk of cuts in a crash, rain and sweat that run off better, and a better view downwards in the aero position, head down on the extensions or hands in the drops. For a time triallist, a triathlete or a time-trial fan, the Strake is therefore our preference; for more relaxed riding, the Aeroshade 2.0 remains a safe bet (our advice). Note that Strake spare lenses have their own references and are not interchangeable with those of the Aeroshade 2.0.

LVR workshop tip

Keep the blue-green lens for bright days; as soon as the sky clouds over or you set off before sunrise, fit the supplied category 1 pink lens.

For care, a rinse under lukewarm water then a gentle wipe with the pouch is enough. Always store the Strake in its case: the Safety Edge, like any lens, does not like being left at the bottom of a bag.

In the box

  • Aeroshade 2.0 Titanium Strake glasses
  • A spare pink lens (category 1, 71% transmission) for dull light

Scratched lenses are covered by the Scicon scratched lens replacement programme (lifetime guarantee stated by the brand, see terms).
