The Trek Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x Gen 5 is the most speed-oriented Domane: Aero RSL aerodynamic bar-stem, Aeolus RSL 37 wheels, 28 mm Pirelli tyres and just 6.63 kg in size ML. Its OCLV Series 900 frame and SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 drivetrain with power meter complete a very sharp package. The Matte Deep Smoke colourway dresses it in a dark, matt smoky grey, perfectly discreet.

For the fast rider who often battles the wind on the plain around Béziers and is looking for a lower position than a classic Domane. It suits the cyclist torn between a Madone and a Domane: it keeps the versatility of the latter with some of the efficiency of the former.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Trek developed OCLV in 1992: compacting carbon with heat and under pressure so that no micro-voids remain. The 900 is the most refined level, obtained through rigid 3D moulding that reduces overlap zones. Compared with the OCLV 500 of a Domane SL, the frame is about 220 g lighter; compared with the previous OCLV 800, it is up to 20 % stronger. Here, the weight saving continues with the components: with no front derailleur, 37 mm rims, 28 mm tyres and a one-piece cockpit, the bike drops below 7 kg.
| OCLV 900 (Domane SLR) | OCLV 500 (Domane SL) | |
| Level | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level carbon of the road range |
| Construction | Rigid 3D moulding, reduced fibre overlaps | More generous layup with more material |
| Gen 5 Domane frame | approx. 835 g (unpainted, size ML) | approx. 1,055 g |
| What it means | About 220 g saved on the frame; the rest of the weight comes down to the components | Heavier frame, ideal for a first carbon bike |
Against the tramontane, the profiled integrated cockpit and Race Fit position bring your upper body lower. The 37 mm rims, shallower than the 51 mm of the other SLR 9 models, also catch fewer side gusts: real handling comfort when the wind blows hard.
The 28 mm Pirelli tyres are a surprise on a Domane, whose philosophy is built around 35 mm sections: they save weight and make the bike livelier, but filter less, and the frame accepts up to 40 mm. The Aero RSL bar-stem, shared with the Madone, also puts you lower than the raised bar of the other SLR models; we adjust its height with spacers before handover.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (ML) |
| Domane SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 | 7.66 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.34 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.29 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 6.63 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS No. 76 | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 7.19 kg |
Our take: 6.63 kg in ML is 660 g less than the SLR 9 AXS (7.29 kg), at the cost of a lower position and narrower tyres. If comfort comes first, the SLR 9 AXS remains the more coherent choice; for speed and the mountains, the 1x takes the advantage.

LVR sizing advice The integrated bar-stem can't be swapped like a conventional stem: choose the size carefully, ideally after a bike fit.

| Madone or Domane? | This 1x offers the Madone cockpit on a versatile endurance frame. |
| Stable in the wind? | Yes, 37 mm rims catch less crosswind than 51 mm ones. |
| Position too low? | Sportier than the other Domane models; spacers can be adjusted in the workshop. |
| Tubeless possible? | The Pirelli tyres run with inner tubes; a tubeless conversion can be assessed in the workshop. |

The LVR Cycles verdict The Domane that comes closest to an aero bike, while keeping the mounts and tyre clearance of an endurance bike. We recommend it to the strong rider who often faces the wind and wants a sportier position.
