The DT 350 Reserve 48|53 GR carbon gravel wheels are designed for gravel racing and fast rides on mixed surfaces. They combine a 48mm front rim with a 53mm rear rim, Turbulent Aero technology, and a wide Hollow Hook construction to deliver aerodynamics, control, and pinch protection.
The difference in height between the two rims serves a specific purpose. The 48 mm front profile limits unpredictable reactions when crosswinds increase, while the 53 mm rear rim enhances aerodynamics without directly affecting steering precision. The 44 mm external width optimizes airflow around the tire and rim.
This DT 350 version has a claimed weight of 1528g per pair. It uses DT Swiss 350 hubs, a Center Lock disc mount, 12x100mm and 12x142mm axles, and a choice of XDR or HG-EV freehub body. The rims have an internal width of 30mm and are recommended for gravel tires from 40 to 57mm.
The front wheel uses a 48mm deep rim. This shallower profile is designed to limit unpredictable reactions in strong crosswinds and maintain more consistent handling.
The rear wheel features a 53mm rim. This taller profile improves the aerodynamic performance of the rear wheel without directly affecting steering precision.
The combination of the two profiles is designed to maintain a constant speed on fast gravel routes, while retaining predictable and smooth behavior throughout the ride.
The Reserve 48|53 GR incorporates Turbulent Aero technology, used to study airflow around wheels under varying conditions.
The extra-wide 44 mm profile allows air to flow more smoothly around the tire and rim. This continuous airflow aims to reduce aerodynamic drag.
The external width is designed to work with modern gravel tires. The aim is to create a more gradual transition between the tire and the rim to promote smooth airflow.
The 48|53 GR uses a semi-crocheted Hollow Hook construction. This design is intended to combine a large internal and external width with a controlled amount of material.
The Hollow Hook structure removes excess material from inside the hook area. This allows Reserve to produce a wide rim without unnecessarily increasing its weight.
The hook width reaches 4.5 mm. This enlarged area increases the contact surface with the tire and helps protect it against pinching during impacts.
The Hollow Hook construction and carbon rims are covered by the lifetime warranty advertised by Reserve.
The 30mm internal width is designed for tire sections commonly used in gravel riding. Reserve recommends tires from 40 to 57mm.
This width allows the tire to take on a wider shape once mounted. It aims to increase its contact area with the ground.
The rim is designed to limit the blistering effect, which occurs when the tire sidewalls tighten at the rim before reaching their maximum width.
The shape obtained with an internal width of 30 mm can offer a larger contact surface, with more grip and stability on gravel surfaces.
This version of the Reserve 48|53 GR uses DT Swiss 350 hubs.
The hubs use a Center Lock mounting for the brake discs.
The DT 350 version is supplied with a freehub body selected at the time of ordering.
The front wheel and the rear wheel each use 24 spokes.
The rear rim has an asymmetrical offset of 2.8 mm.
Reserve recommends the use of gravel tires with a width between 40 and 57 mm.
The wheelset comes with a 32mm Reserve rim tape already installed.
Two Reserve Fillmore tubeless valves are supplied separately to match the two rim heights.
The Reserve 48|53 GR are designed for gravel bikes equipped with disc brakes.
The front and rear hubs use the Center Lock standard for disc mounting.
The wheels are classified ASTM Condition 2.
The maximum permissible pressure for the wheels is 80 psi, or 5.5 bar.
When the maximum pressure indicated by the tire manufacturer is less than 80 psi or 5.5 bar, this lower value must be respected.
Reserve indicates that the wheels are not subject to any rider weight limit.
The wheels are covered by the Reserve lifetime warranty, in accordance with the conditions defined by the brand.
Reserve offers support via email, chat, or scheduled video call to assist users with any issues they may have with a Fillmore wheel or valve.
