Ride to work in everyday shoes and head out at the weekend in cleated shoes? The Geo Trekking Grip was designed for exactly that. On one side, an SPD-compatible clipless mechanism; on the other, a composite platform overmoulded with elastomer by dual injection, which grips the sole without damaging it. A pedal for trekking, town riding and e-bikes.
The X-Venture is a gravel pedal: Q-factor narrowed to 53 mm and a flat side with moulded studs. The Geo Trekking Grip is aimed more at urban riders and tourers: its 56 mm Q-factor gives your feet more spacing, and its elastomer side is the kindest to everyday shoes. Compared with the standard Geo Trekking, the difference lies precisely in this grippier elastomer coating, for around 25 g more.
On a town bike, we recommend setting the tension to minimum: you need to be able to release your foot without thinking at a red light. After a winter of commuting, cleaning the elastomer side with soapy water restores its bite. And if you walk a lot in your cleated shoes, check cleat wear twice a year.
