You ride a lot and want a smooth, stiff pedal, but the 53 mm Q-factor cramps your heels? The Keo Blade Ceramic Q56 meets both needs. It keeps everything that has built the Blade family's reputation, with ceramic bearings and a tension-12 blade, while widening the stance to improve stability and joint alignment.
Both pedals are available in 56 mm with the same body and the same weight. The difference lies in the bearings: steel on the Keo Blade, ceramic here. road.cc's review of the Ceramic noted a pair weighing 231 g, double seals and a score of 8/10. If you clock up the miles, the bearing longevity claimed by LOOK justifies the choice; for more occasional use, the steel-bearing Keo Blade is enough.
The Keo Grip cleats supplied with the Ceramic are usually grey, with 4.5° of float; black 0° and red 9° versions are available if you want to lock in or free up your heel. With a wider Q-factor, check the angle of each cleat on a turbo trainer before your first ride: your foot should sit in its natural line, with no twisting stress.
