The Keo 2 Max is one of the long-standing benchmarks of LOOK's road range. The Carbon version lightens the body while keeping the adjustable spring mechanism that many riders appreciate for its simplicity. This Proteam version uses the same technical base. road.cc gave it 9/10, praising the smoothness of its bearings.
The Keo Blade replaces the spring with a blade: it gains contact area (705 mm²) and lowers the foot to 14.8 mm. On the other hand, changing its tension means swapping the blade, whereas the 2 Max is adjusted with a simple key in a few turns of the screw. For sportive riders who often adjust their tension or share their bike, the Keo 2 Max Carbon remains a very sensible alternative.
Set the tension identically on both pedals by counting the clicks from the minimum position. Start around 8 if you're a beginner, then increase gradually. Keo cleats wear faster if you walk a lot: a set of Keo Covers in your jersey pocket protects them during café stops.
