The Trek Madone SLR 9 AXS 1x Gen 8 is the lightest Madone Trek has ever produced: 6.40 kg in size ML, 400 g below the UCI limit of 6.8 kg. An OCLV Series 900 frame, a SRAM RED E1 1x12 drivetrain with power meter and Aeolus RSL 37 wheels make up this radical build. The Lidl-Trek Team Replica colourway features the white and blue of the pro team.

For the rider chasing personal bests on timed climbs, for the climber who wants the lightest possible bike without giving up aerodynamics, or for the lover of exceptional equipment who knows it falls outside the racing rules.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. For its lightest Madone, Trek did not invent a new frame: it uses the same OCLV Series 900 structure as the other SLR models, and the extra grams disappear elsewhere. The process, used since 1992, involves pressing the carbon plies under heat until the micro-bubbles are driven out; a higher series number reflects a more efficient layup, so less material for the same strength. The painted frame weighs 796 g in ML and is still covered for life.
| OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | OCLV 800 (Speed Concept) | |
| Level | Trek's most refined carbon | Entry-level road carbon | Trek's former top-end road carbon |
| Construction | 3D moulding, reduced ply overlaps | Same process, more generous lay-up | Proven lay-up, integration comes first |
| Reference bike | Madone SLR: painted frame 796 g (ML), fork 350 g | Madone SL: painted frame 1,054 g (ML), fork 363 g | Speed Concept SLR: painted frame 1,522 g |
| What it means | 271 g less than the SL on frame and fork; up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Same aero shapes, separate bar and stem, gentler budget | Still very high-performing, reserved for triathlon at Trek |
Put simply: with the same frame, the 600 g separating this 1x from the double-chainring SLR 9 AXS come from the single-chainring drivetrain, shallower wheels and lighter tyres. It is a climber's build on a familiar base, not a different carbon.
Let's be clear: as delivered, this bike does not meet the minimum weight for UCI-governed events. For a federation race, it would need ballast to reach 6.8 kg; it really comes into its own in sportives, on timed climbs or on your solo rides.
The 48-tooth single chainring and 10-36 cassette cover a wide range: you keep an easy gear for the slopes of the Caroux and enough speed on the flat. The power meter built into the chainring lets you track your efforts precisely during a record attempt, and we calibrate it before your first ride.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.05 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS E1 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.00 kg (ML) |
| SLR 9 AXS ICON editions | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS E1 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 65X carbon | 6.90 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS 1x | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED E1 1x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 carbon | 6.40 kg (ML) |
Our take: the 1x weighs 600 g less than the SLR 9 AXS 2x12, but with just one chainring. The ICON editions, at 6.90 kg, keep two chainrings and deeper wheels; the SLR 9 Dura-Ace weighs 7.05 kg.

LVR sizing advice With a single chainring, cadence matters even more: crank length follows the size, so bear it in mind if you are torn between two frames. If in doubt, the smaller size gives a more aggressive position, the larger one more stability on descents.

| Legal for UCI racing? | Not as it stands: at 6.40 kg, it would need ballast to reach 6.8 kg. |
| Is 1x enough on a col? | Yes with the 48x36; the gaps between sprockets are a little wider. |
| Power meter? | Yes, built into the RED E1 chainset. |
| Stock tyres? | 28 mm Pirelli P Zero Race RS, clearance up to 32 mm. |

The LVR Cycles verdict A radical Madone, made for personal bests rather than official results. The Lidl-Trek replica adds a touch of the pro peloton to a bike that is already out of the ordinary.
