First introduced on Shimano MTB groupsets, this unique interface between the chain and cassette smoothly guides the chain up and down the cassette for fast and precise shifting in both directions, even under extreme pedaling pressure. This eliminates the need to reduce pedal pressure before shifting. HYPERGLIDE+ ensures smooth, efficient shifting, every time.

The highly rigid hollow structure reduces weight while maintaining the same rigidity. More efficient power transfer and a more immediate and precise chainring.

HOLLOWTECH II

The concept of HOLLOWTECH II technology is focused on producing a superior crankset that will maximize the rider's power transfer. The crankset's stiffness ensures pedaling efficiency while its weight, a key component of the crankset, you want light, helps pedaling over longer distances over which the rider must pedal more. HOLLOWTECH technology is an ultra-lightweight hollow crank arm created by SHIMANO using the company's proprietary forging technology, which also maintains stiffness. The addition of HOLLOWTECH II technology integrates the bottom bracket spindle with the right crank arm for more stiffness and weight savings to achieve high-dimensional balance. Its external bottom bracket bearing system ensures better weight distribution and more pedaling stability, allowing for more efficient power transfer.
