An innovative evolution

The Free Aero RC Shorts are our best running shorts, which also means they're incredibly comfortable even if you never wear a bib. It's fair to say that we've been working on these shorts for 15 years. It's been since the introduction of the first Free Aero Race Bibshort, initially as our top of the line race bib shorts.

Since then it has won three Tours de France, three Giri d'Italia, a Vuelta and San Remo, but it has also become the best-selling product in the history of Castelli because, simply, it is the bib shorts that does everything well.

The concept is pretty simple: start with the best padding we know how to do, wrap it in supportive shorts with good muscle compression, then remove anything that isn't absolutely necessary.

You feel free thanks to the reduced number of panels and the reduced number of seams. In fact, the bib part has only 5 panels compared to 10 in the previous generation.

You feel free thanks to the improvements made to the Progetto X2 Air, the seamless seat pad. Dual foam densities plus gel pads provide progressive cushioning, while the separate skin care layer is soft and stretchy to conform to your skin.

You feel free thanks to the most minimalist suspenders you've ever seen on a bib short, with ventilated straps for maximum air circulation. We've reinforced the bib to keep the suspenders in place and made the mesh back narrow for minimal coverage but just enough to hold the bib shorts in place. And the bib elegantly frames a handy center back pocket.

You feel free because these are the first premium shorts that don't need a support band or elastic at the end of the leg to hold it in place. To achieve this, it took 28 prototypes and our most extensive test program yet, resulting in a very comfortable leg finish we've ever produced.

Forza 2 fabric is 32% Lycra® content with high modulus for exceptional muscle support and just the right amount of compression. There is reflective piping on the back. And all logos are either sewn or stamped for durability.
