From a project initiated over a year ago, SILCA Super Secret Chain Lube was developed with the aim of creating the highest performing hot melt wax-based lubricant on the market. With his expertise in advising professional cyclists and triathletes on the application of hot melt wax, Josh wanted to share his exclusive formula with our customers. The challenge lay in how to melt, quench and agitate the chain evenly across different cassette types and at different temperatures.

The project took an exciting turn when a meeting with a group specializing in micro-scale technology opened up new perspectives. Using an innovative solution to incorporate wax powders on a micro-scale, a layer formed quickly and provided a coating indistinguishable from hot dipping. The combination of air-drying liquid wax and tungsten disulfide quickly proved to be superior to all hot melt waxes currently available, providing faster and easier application while surpassing friction tests.
