For the leisure rider who likes to head off for half a day on the Passa Païs greenway or down to the beaches at Valras, and would rather not keep an eye on the battery gauge. It also suits riders who charge infrequently and string together several days of journeys.
A Lowstep frame in Alpha aluminium, designed for effortless mounting. The Verve+ 1 Lowstep in this series is built around a step-through frame: the top tube dips very low, so you step through the bike rather than swinging your leg over the saddle. The Bosch Powerpack battery sits on the down tube and the Active Line motor, the smoothest in the Bosch range, is housed at the bottom bracket.
| Verve+ 1 Lowstep (Active Line) | Verve+ 2 Lowstep (Performance Cruise) | Verve+ 3 Lowstep (Performance Line) | |
| Level | Gentle assistance, 40 Nm | Intermediate assistance, 65 Nm | Strong assistance, 75 Nm |
| Construction | Powerpack battery on the down tube | Powerpack 500 Wh battery, Intuvia display | Removable integrated battery, smart system |
| Reference bike | 22.30 kg (M) | 23.58 kg (M) | 26.59 kg (M) |
| What it means | The lightest, ideal on flat ground | More torque for the hills | The most powerful, but the heaviest |
In other words: this Verve+ 1 Lowstep is a simple, light electric leisure bike for the family, 22.30 kg in M according to Trek, with all the everyday equipment fitted as standard. Its Active Line motor favours smoothness over brute force.
The Bosch Active Line motor delivers 40 Nm very smoothly: it supports your pedalling rather than pushing you along, and stays discreet. Paired with 500 Wh, it makes for a bike with real staying power on flat or gently rolling routes, typical of the banks of the Orb and the canal.
The MIK-compatible rear rack takes baskets and panniers that clip on in one movement. On rides towards the sea, the sea breeze or the tramontane are often felt: that is where a large battery comes into its own, as you can stay in a stronger mode without cutting the ride short.
| Model | Motor | Battery | Drivetrain | Weight (size) |
| Verve+ 1 Lowstep (Powerpack) | Bosch Active Line 40 Nm | 300, 400 or 500 Wh | Shimano 8-speed 12-32 | 22.30 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 1 Lowstep (CompactTube) | Bosch Active Line 40 Nm | 400 Wh | Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40 | 23.30 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 2 Lowstep (Performance Cruise) | Bosch Performance Cruise 65 Nm | 500 Wh | Shimano Acera/Altus 9-speed 11-36 | 23.58 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 3 Lowstep | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 545 or 800 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36 | 26.59 kg (M) |
Our take: of the three batteries for this Verve+ 1 Lowstep, the 500 Wh allows the longest rides, with the same motor and model weight. If you are mainly after torque on the climbs, look at the Verve+ 2 Lowstep and its 65 Nm.
