For the rider who mixes town journeys with dirt tracks at the weekend, among the vineyards and garrigue around Béziers. It will suit anyone who wants a versatile electric bike that is livelier than a conventional city bike.
The Verve+ 4, the most complete Verve+. It takes the 3rd-generation Alpha Smooth aluminium frame with hidden battery and equips it for trails: lockout fork, wider Bontrager Kovee Tubeless Ready rims, LT4 Expert tyres with a reflective strip, 180 mm rotors and a lowriser handlebar with a sportier shape than the touring bar on the other Verve+ models.
| Verve+ 3 (standard frame) | Verve+ 4 (standard frame) | Verve+ 4 Lowstep (step-through frame) | |
| Level | NVX30 60 mm fork | XCR32 63 mm fork with lockout | XCR32 63 mm fork with lockout |
| Construction | Connection rims, 160 mm rotors | Kovee 23 mm rims, 180 mm rotors | Same build, low step-over |
| Reference bike | 27.29 kg (M) | 24.20 kg (L) | 23.50 kg (M) |
| What it means | 11-36 cassette, touring handlebar | 11-46 cassette for steep climbs | Easier mounting |
In other words: the Verve+ 4 is the Verve+ with the largest brake rotors (180 mm) and the widest-range cassette (11-46), at 24.20 kg in L according to Trek. The battery comes in 545 or 800 Wh depending on the length of your rides.
The XCR32 fork offers 63 mm of travel and a lockout: you lock it on tarmac so it doesn't bob with every pedal stroke, and release it on rocky tracks. Its preload can be adjusted to your weight.
The Shimano CUES 11-46 cassette offers a very low gear for steep climbs, easier than the 11-36 on the Verve+ 3. The 180 mm rotors front and rear dissipate heat better on descents, and the lowriser handlebar with 25 mm of rise gives a slightly more engaged position.
| Model | Motor | Battery | Drivetrain | Weight (size) |
| Verve+ 3 | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 545 or 800 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36 | 27.29 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 4 | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 545 or 800 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-46 | 24.20 kg (L) |
| Verve+ 4 Lowstep | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 545 or 800 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-46 | 23.50 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 2 | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 400 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36 | 26.10 kg (L) |
Our take: the Verve+ 4 weighs 24.20 kg in L, compared with 27.29 kg in M quoted for the Verve+ 3, and gains the lockout fork and large rotors. The 800 Wh is aimed at long rides; the Verve+ 4 Lowstep offers the same equipment with a step-through frame.
