The only colour of the Trek Verve+ 2 Lowstep offered here in two sizes, M and L, this Trek Black covers riders from 160 to 200 cm. It keeps the step-through frame, the 75 Nm Bosch Performance Line motor and the 400 Wh CompactTube battery, for 25.40 kg in size M according to Trek. A classic black, no frills.

Who is it for?

For a couple who want two identical bikes in different sizes, or for the average-height rider who prefers a discreet colour. It suits town journeys as well as rides out to Sauvian or Vendres.

The Verve+ 2 Lowstep: Bosch power in a step-through frame. Its Alpha Smooth aluminium shapes a very low top tube so you can get on and off without lifting your leg. The 400 Wh Bosch CompactTube battery slides into the down tube, the 75 Nm Performance Line motor sits at the bottom bracket and a one-piece bar and stem carries the headlight.

In other words: the Verve+ 2 Lowstep combines a step-through frame, the 75 Nm Bosch motor, a suspension fork and a suspension seatpost for 25.40 kg in M according to Trek. The 400 Wh battery is enough for most everyday journeys and leisure rides.

The step-through frame makes choosing a size more flexible: what matters most is saddle height and reach to the handlebar. The 300 mm suspension seatpost and the integrated bar and stem give an upright position with relaxed shoulders.

The Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes on 160 mm rotors brake consistently on dry or wet roads and are easy to modulate. The resin pedals with anti-slip tape and reflectors provide good grip, even in everyday shoes.

Our take: this black comes in M and L, whereas Dark Aquatic and Plasma Grey Pearl are offered in L. The standard-frame Verve+ 2 offers the same motor for 26.10 kg in L.

LVR sizing advice

This colour is offered in M (160 to 180 cm) and L (180 to 200 cm) according to Trek. The step-through frame copes well if you are between sizes; the integrated bar and stem offers less adjustment than a conventional stem, hence the value of a position test ride.
