For the town dweller who has to carry their bike up a staircase, keep it in a flat or load it onto a regional train. It suits urban journeys and rides on flat terrain, from the centre of Béziers to the banks of the Orb.
The Verve+ 1 LT Lowstep, the lightweight Verve+. Here, there is no mid-drive motor: the assistance comes from a Hyena motor housed in the rear wheel hub, backed up by a torque sensor in the bottom bracket that measures the force of each pedal stroke. The Alpha Gold aluminium step-through frame hides a 250 Wh battery; the whole bike comes down to 18.90 kg in M according to Trek.
| Verve+ 1 LT Lowstep (hub) | Verve+ 1 Lowstep (mid-drive) | Verve+ 2 Lowstep (mid-drive) | |
| Level | Hyena 40 Nm in the wheel | Bosch Active Line 40 Nm | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm |
| Construction | Alpha Gold, 250 Wh battery | Alpha Smooth, CompactTube 400 Wh | Alpha Smooth, CompactTube 400 Wh |
| Reference bike | 18.90 kg (M) | 23.30 kg (M) | 25.40 kg (M) |
| What it means | 4.40 kg less than the Verve+ 1 | More on-board energy | The most torque for the hills |
In other words: the Verve+ 1 LT Lowstep is the easiest Verve+ to carry, store and handle. Its 40 Nm hub motor and 250 Wh battery suit urban journeys and rides on gently rolling terrain.
A motor in the rear hub drives the wheel directly, without going through the chain. The torque sensor in the bottom bracket measures the force of each pedal stroke and adjusts the assistance accordingly: the harder you push, the more it supports you, which gives a natural feel.
The ProWheel Pro chainset with a 42-tooth narrow-wide steel single chainring keeps the chain in place, and the Shimano 11-40 cassette offers an easy gear for pulling away. The Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic brakes provide smooth, reliable braking on this light bike.
| Model | Motor | Battery | Drivetrain | Weight (size) |
| Verve+ 1 LT Lowstep | Hyena hub motor 40 Nm | 250 Wh | Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40 | 18.90 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 1 Lowstep (CompactTube) | Bosch Active Line 40 Nm | 400 Wh | Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40 | 23.30 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 2 Lowstep | Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm | 400 Wh | Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36 | 25.40 kg (M) |
| Verve+ 1 Lowstep (Powerpack) | Bosch Active Line 40 Nm | 300, 400 or 500 Wh | Shimano 8-speed 12-32 | 22.30 kg (M) |
Our take: the Verve+ 1 LT Lowstep weighs 4.40 kg less than the Bosch-powered Verve+ 1 Lowstep (23.30 kg in M). In return, its 250 Wh battery and 40 Nm motor are aimed at flat routes; for hills, go for a Verve+ 2.
