With its powdery lavender mauve, the Trek Inbound+ 2 B Lowstep Lavender Haze is the most cheerful of the Inbound+ models. It combines a low step-over frame, a single-speed Gates belt and a 45 Nm Bosch motor housed in the rear wheel, powered by a 360 Wh PowerTube. SKS mudguards, MIK rack and kickstand are fitted as standard, for 20.50 kg in size M according to Trek.

Who is it for?

For anyone who does their shopping by bike, stops at the Les Halles market and rides in a dress, a skirt or a long coat. The low frame means no lifting your leg over a loaded bag at the back, and the belt won't dirty your clothes or your calves.

Lowstep and belt drive: get on without lifting your leg. The Lowstep frame drops the top tube right down: you step through in front of the saddle when stopped, even in a skirt or with a bag on the rack. Here Trek pairs it with a single-speed Gates Sidetrack drivetrain, a toothed belt that needs neither oil nor degreaser. The Alpha Smooth aluminium keeps the cables inside the tubes.

In short: at 20.50 kg in M, the Inbound+ 2 B LS is the lightest version in the entire Inbound+ 2 range. Low frame, belt drive, 360 Wh: it's the electric city bike pared down to the essentials, for riding in everyday clothes without ever thinking about the mechanics.

The rear rack takes MIK baskets and panniers, which attach with a simple click and unclip to take into a shop. The Pletscher Comp Flex 40 kickstand holds the bike while you load it. With a bag on the rack, the motor in the rear hub keeps traction on the wheel carrying the weight.

A toothed belt means the end of stained trouser hems and squeaky chains: nothing to grease, nothing to go out of adjustment. The assistance accompanies you up to 25 km/h, and the SKS mudguards protect you from spray the day after rain. The Bontrager E6 tyres, with their reflective sidewalls, bounce headlights back from the side.

Our take: the belt-drive Lowstep is the lightest option (20.50 kg in M) for shopping in town. If you often carry loads and have to ride up a steep street, the R8 LS and its eight gears (21.70 kg) make the job easier.

LVR sizing advice

The Lowstep comes from size S, which Trek intends for 147 to 155 cm. Thanks to the low frame, step-over is hardly an issue: you choose mainly by saddle height and riding position. Sizes S and M have a 70 mm stem, L and XL a 110 mm stem.
