The Trek Domane SLR 7 combines OCLV Series 900 carbon, Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 and Aeolus Pro 51 carbon wheels, for 7.66 kg in size ML. For the club rider who shares fast Sunday morning rides, takes turns on the front and wants a responsive bike without giving up comfort. It will also suit the cyclist who rides all year round, with mudguards fitted in winter, and wants a single high-end bike for every season.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has made its OCLV carbon frames by compacting the fibre sheets under heat and pressure, to eliminate the micro-voids where weaknesses begin. The number after the name reflects how refined the layup is: a high number means less material is needed to achieve the same stiffness. The 900 of the Domane SLR is the top of this scale, covered like all OCLV frames by the Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 900 (Domane SLR) | OCLV 500 (Domane SL) | |
| Level | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level road carbon |
| Construction | Rigid 3D moulding, reduced fibre overlaps | Same process, layup with more material |
| Gen 5 Domane frame | approx. 835 g (unpainted, ML), fork 367 g | approx. 1,055 g (unpainted, ML) |
| What it means | About 220 g less; up to 20 % stronger than the previous OCLV 800 | Tough frame, slightly heavier, more affordable |
In practice, compared with the Domane SL and its OCLV 500, the SLR saves about 220 g on the frame alone thanks to a stiffer 3D moulding that limits fibre overlaps, while also gaining strength. On an endurance bike, those grams are felt mainly when accelerating and on long climbs, not on the flat.
The 51 mm rims of the Aeolus Pro 51 keep the speed up on the long straight roads of the Orb plain or along the coast. In a tramontane or a strong sea wind, they need a little attention in gusts, without being treacherous. The stiffness of the OCLV 900 frame transmits power well when accelerating out of corners.
In a group, Di2 is a game changer: instant shifts, even under full acceleration, and progressive Shimano hydraulic braking with 160 mm rotors. In winter, the mudguard mounts let you ride dry on 35 mm tyres; servicing the rotors and pads in the workshop at the end of the season keeps them working well.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (ML) |
| Domane SL 6 AXS | OCLV 500 | SRAM Rival AXS wireless | Carbon 50 mm | 8.64 kg |
| Domane SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Carbon 51 mm | 7.66 kg |
| Domane SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM Force AXS + power meter | Carbon 51 mm | 7.73 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | RSL carbon 51 mm | 7.34 kg |
Our take: for club use, the SLR 7 offers the essence of the SLR 9 give or take 320 g, and its 7.66 kg puts it 70 g below the SLR 7 AXS. Only a fan of power-based training will prefer the SRAM version.

LVR sizing advice On club rides, a slightly more stretched-out position helps you stay sheltered in the wheels: if you are between two sizes, the larger one often makes sense if your flexibility allows.
