Thanks to its 48/35 and 10-36 cassette, the Trek Domane SLR 9 AXS Gen 5 makes steep gradients more manageable than a classic 50/34, while weighing 7.29 kg in size ML. OCLV Series 900 frame, SRAM RED AXS E1 2x12 drivetrain with power meter and Aeolus RSL 51 wheels complete a very well-balanced package. The Serpentine paint features a dark red and a brilliant red, giving the frame plenty of character.

For the cyclist who loves the mountains but refuses to finish climbs in agony: the low 35x36 gear lets you spin where others are out of the saddle. It suits the sportive rider targeting events with lots of climbing who wants to pace their effort in watts on every climb.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. For a bike that climbs, the frame is the first source of lightness. OCLV 900 builds on Trek's historic process, compacting the layers under heat and pressure as it has since 1992, and adds rigid 3D moulding with limited overlaps. The Domane frame thus drops to approx. 835 g unpainted in ML, about 220 g below the OCLV 500 version, with up to 20 % more strength than the previous OCLV 800. The RED groupset and RSL wheels complete the weight saving compared with the SLR 7 AXS.
| OCLV 900 (Domane SLR) | OCLV 500 (Domane SL) | |
| Level | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level carbon of the road range |
| Construction | Rigid 3D moulding, reduced fibre overlaps | More generous layup with more material |
| Gen 5 Domane frame | approx. 835 g (unpainted, size ML) | approx. 1,055 g |
| What it means | Frame about 220 g lighter and up to 20 % stronger than OCLV 800 | Heavier frame, same Trek lifetime warranty |
On the long climbs of the Caroux or towards the Pic de Nore, the power meter helps you keep a steady effort rather than going by feel, which is often misleading at the start of a col. On descents, the stiff front end and 160 mm rotors inspire confidence in tight hairpins.
The power meter housed in the RED chainset is this version's main asset, with no parts to add. The 48/35 and 10-36 cassette also offer more flexibility on climbs than the 50/34 and 11-34 of the Shimano SLR 9. Before handover, we pair the shifters and power meter with your computer.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (ML) |
| Domane SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 | 7.66 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.34 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.29 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 6.63 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS No. 76 | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 7.19 kg |
Our take: the SLR 9 AXS weighs 50 g less than the Shimano SLR 9 (7.29 against 7.34 kg) and adds power measurement. To save another 660 g, you have to accept the 1x13 and 28 mm tyres of the SLR 9 AXS 1x.
