For the enduro rider who spends weekends at the Lodève and Salagou spots, or in a bike park, and wants a tough bike that is not afraid of crashes. It also suits the mountain biker who pedals back up to earn every descent.
Alpha Platinum aluminium, built for enduro. The Slash 8 uses the Gen 6 Alpha Platinum aluminium frame: high main pivot with idler pulley, adjustable head angle headset, internal storage and integrated protection. The high pivot makes the rear wheel move backwards as it rises over an obstacle, helping it roll over steps instead of hitting them.

| Level | Trek's mountain bike carbon | High-end aluminium | Enduro on a Fuel base |

| What it means | Lifetime frame warranty, higher-end builds | Cheaper to replace after a big crash | 160 / 170 mm, conventional pivot |
Put simply: an aluminium enduro frame makes sense when you ride hard and crash now and then. Here it weighs only 50 g more than the complete carbon Slash 9.8.
The high main pivot with idler pulley moves the rear axle backwards under compression: the bike swallows steps and rock gardens instead of hanging up on them. This system needs a little attention in the workshop (idler and chain); we include it in every service.
The mixed wheels, 29 inches at the front for rolling over obstacles and 27.5 at the rear for agility, make the Slash lively in the tight red-earth corners of the Salagou. The 203 mm rotors front and rear keep the power consistent on long descents.
| Model | Frame | Travel rear / front | Drivetrain | Weight (M) |
| Slash 8 | Alpha Platinum alloy | 170 / 170 mm | Shimano XT 1x12 | 16.68 kg |
| Slash 9 GX AXS | Alpha Platinum alloy | 170 / 170 mm | SRAM GX AXS T-Type 1x12 | 17.47 kg |
| Slash 9.8 XT Di2 | OCLV Mountain carbon | 170 / 170 mm | Shimano XT Di2 1x12 | 16.63 kg |
| Slash 9.9 X0 AXS | OCLV Mountain carbon | 170 / 170 mm | SRAM X0 AXS T-Type 1x12 | 16.53 kg |
Our take: only 50 g separate this aluminium Slash 8 from the carbon 9.8 XT Di2. The 9.9 X0 AXS drops to 16.53 kg with Ultimate suspension and wireless shifting.
