Put simply: same frame as the 9.8 models; the 1.20 kg saving over the 9.8 XT comes down to the kit.
The 175 mm RockShox Reverb AXS post works without a cable, like the derailleur: the handlebar remote communicates by radio. The cockpit is almost free of housing, which makes handlebar height adjustments and maintenance easier. This version gets a Verse Short Pro saddle with carbon rails.
The carbon-rimmed Line Pro 30 wheels are stiffer and lighter than the alloy Line Comp 30s on the 9.8 models: the bike changes line more easily and accelerates faster. On the fast singletrack of the Montagne Noire, you feel the difference from the very first sequences of turns.

Our take: in size M, this 9.9 X0 AXS weighs 14.08 kg, which is 1.20 kg less than the 9.8 XT. The Top Fuel 9.8 XT Di2, at 14.00 kg, is just as light but limited to 120 / 130 mm: the Fuel EX keeps the advantage as soon as the terrain gets tougher.
