For the racer who has ridden Shimano for years and wants the same feel from their brakes and shifting on a very high-level race bike. It also suits the racer who prefers to stay in control of their suspension settings thanks to the dual remote lockout.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. The OCLV principle consists of compacting the carbon layers under heat and pressure to eliminate micro-voids: fewer defects, and therefore less material needed for a given stiffness. In mountain biking, Trek adapts it under the name OCLV Mountain, with a layup designed to take knocks. The 9.9 XTR Di2 gets the SLR level, the lightest, and Trek's lifetime warranty on the frame.
| OCLV Mountain SLR | OCLV Mountain SL | Alpha Platinum alloy (Procaliber 6 / 8) | |
| Level | Trek's most advanced mountain bike carbon | Standard MTB carbon, same geometry | Trek premium aluminium |
| Construction | OCLV process, layup refined to the maximum | OCLV process, slightly more material | Hydroforming, smoothed welds |
| Reference bike | Supercaliber SLR 9.8 and 9.9 | Supercaliber SL 9.6 and 9.7 | Procaliber 6 and 8 (hardtails) |
| What it means | Lighter frame, reserved for high-end builds | Same IsoStrut, slightly heavier frame | Heavier, no rear suspension |
Put simply: with an identical frame, this 9.9 XTR Di2 is the Supercaliber for Shimano loyalists. It weighs 300 g more than the 9.9 XX Flight Attendant, lacking electronically controlled suspension and equally light wheels, but it keeps conventional dampers with handlebar remotes, which are simpler to live with.
XTR Di2 brings crisp electronic shifts, identical with every press, even when the drivetrain is covered in dust. The adjustment does not drift from ride to ride as there is no longer a cable to stretch: real peace of mind for anyone racing several weekends in a row.
The XTR M9200 brakes offer a firm lever and very fine modulation, welcome on the dry, dusty descents around Béziers where grip is precarious. The dual handlebar remote for the SID SL Ultimate fork and the shock lets you firm everything up with one movement for a sprint or a fire-road climb.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Suspension | Weight (M) |
| Supercaliber SLR 9.8 XT Di2 | OCLV Mountain SLR | Shimano XT Di2 | SID SL Ultimate / SIDLuxe | 11.58 kg |
| Supercaliber SLR 9.8 X0 Flight Attendant | OCLV Mountain SLR | SRAM X0 AXS + power meter | Flight Attendant | 11.28 kg |
| Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XTR Di2 | OCLV Mountain SLR | Shimano XTR Di2 | SID SL Ultimate / SIDLuxe | 10.58 kg |
| Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XX Flight Attendant | OCLV Mountain SLR | SRAM XX SL AXS | Flight Attendant | 10.28 kg |
Our take: at 10.58 kg in M, the 9.9 XTR Di2 is 300 g heavier than the 9.9 XX Flight Attendant but 1 kg lighter than the 9.8 XT Di2. It is the lightest Supercaliber without electronic suspension.

LVR sizing advice If you are between two sizes, take the smaller one for a lively bike on twisting singletrack, the larger one if your races include long fast-rolling sections. Cranks go from 170 to 175 mm in L and XL, and the Fox Transfer SL post from 100 to 150 mm.

| IsoStrut maintenance? | There is no main pivot: maintenance is limited to the shock, which we service. |
| Is the blue very dark? | Yes, a smoky navy blue that looks almost black in the shade. |

The LVR Cycles verdict The benchmark Supercaliber for Shimano loyalists, with XTR braking and flawless electronic shifting. Its smoky navy blue remains highly understated.
