It will appeal to the demanding rider who wants crisp shifts, even when stamping on the pedals out of a corner, without paying the price of a carbon frame. It is also a smart choice for the mountain biker who rides a lot and no longer wants to adjust cables.
Why an alloy frame under a wireless drivetrain? Because on an enduro bike, money is better spent on what touches the terrain: suspension, brakes, derailleur. Alpha NEXT Platinum is Trek's most advanced mountain bike alloy, reserved for the Gen 7 Fuel, and gets the same kinematic adjustments as the carbon frame. Trek's lifetime warranty also covers this frame.
| Alpha NEXT Platinum (Fuel LX 9) | OCLV Mountain (Fuel LX 9.8) | Alpha Platinum (Slash 8) | |
| Level | Trek's best MTB aluminium, reserved for Gen 7 Fuels | Trek's mountain bike carbon | Aluminium from the range above |
| Construction | Alloy engineered for strength, highly adjustable frame | OCLV layup tuned for impact resistance | Tough alloy, simpler kinematics |
| Reference bike | Gen 7 alloy Fuel EX frameset: 4.95 kg (M) | Gen 7 carbon Fuel EX frameset: 3.31 kg (M) | Complete Slash 8: 16.68 kg (M) |
| What it means | Takes knocks, more affordable | About 1.6 kg less on the frameset | 170 mm alloy enduro, less adjustable |
Put simply: this Fuel LX 9 X0 AXS pairs a frame that is not afraid of rocks with an electronic drivetrain that does not go out of adjustment. Trek does not publish its weight: expect a figure close to the 17.38 kg of the LX 9 Eagle 90.
The X0 Eagle AXS drivetrain works without cables: the shifter on the bar communicates wirelessly with the derailleur, which has its own battery. The result: no cable stretch, no housing clogged with garrigue dust, and an adjustment that stays put. The T-Type derailleur mounts directly on the rear axle, making it tougher against impacts.
The XS-1295 cassette and X0 chain deliver crisp shifts under load, useful when you accelerate over the top of a rise before plunging back down. We carry out the AXS firmware update, pairing and set-up when you collect the bike.
| Model | Frame | Drivetrain | Travel rear / front | Weight (M) |
| Fuel LX 9 Eagle 90 | Alpha NEXT Platinum alloy | Mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 | 160 / 170 mm | 17.38 kg |
| Fuel LX 9 X0 AXS | Alpha NEXT Platinum alloy | Wireless SRAM X0 AXS | 160 / 170 mm | n/a (reference 17.38 kg) |
| Fuel LX 9 XT Di2 | Alpha NEXT Platinum alloy | Wireless Shimano XT Di2 | 160 / 170 mm | n/a |
| Fuel LX 9.8 XT Di2 | OCLV Mountain carbon | Wireless Shimano XT Di2 | 160 / 170 mm | 15.97 kg |
Our take: compared with the LX 9 Eagle 90 (17.38 kg in M), this X0 AXS keeps the frame and suspension but gains wireless shifting and Maven Silver brakes. For the same approach with Shimano, look at the LX 9 XT Di2.

LVR sizing advice The frame comes in S, M, L and XL. For aggressive descending, do not size down too much: length keeps the bike stable on steep slopes.

The LVR Cycles verdict A Fuel LX that combines the toughness of alloy with the precision of wireless, for a rider who wants a trouble-free drivetrain. The grey speckled with black suits it perfectly.
