The Shimano RX710 Sand White shoes are designed for gravel riders seeking a balance between pedaling efficiency, foot support, and comfort when the ride requires dismounting. Their design combines Shimano performance-oriented technologies with a sole engineered for the varied terrain encountered on gravel bikes.
The RX710 features the new SHIMANO DYNALAST 2.0 fit, a dual BOA closure system, and a carbon-reinforced midsole. This combination is ideal for both fast rides and long days on the trails.
The SHIMANO DYNALAST 2.0 fit offers more volume at the toes to allow the foot to maintain a more natural position while pedaling.
This development makes perfect sense in gravel riding, where comfort must remain constant for several hours and on terrain that continuously puts stress on the feet.
The RX710 uses two BOA L6 type Z dials. These allow for precise adjustment of the tightness and distribution of support over different areas of the foot.
The adjustment can therefore be adapted to the cyclist's feelings and the conditions of the ride, with a hold precise enough for sustained passages and accelerations.
The carbon-reinforced midsole provides the necessary stiffness to efficiently transfer power to the pedals. With a Shimano stiffness rating of 9/12 , the RX710 maintains a sporty feel while remaining suited to the specific demands of gravel riding.
In gravel riding, some sections may require walking or pushing the bike. Shimano therefore equips the RX710 with a TPU outsole designed to provide more support and stability when the cyclist leaves the pedals.
The design around the SPD cleat also allows for better management of ground contact, an important difference compared to a shoe exclusively designed for road cycling.
The RX710 uses a 2-bolt SPD cleat, particularly suited to gravel riding. The cleat is positioned in the sole to facilitate walking while maintaining an effective connection with the pedal.
The RX710 is a particularly interesting choice for the cyclist who mainly rides gravel and wants to maintain a high-performance shoe on rolling sections without being penalized when the terrain becomes more technical or requires some walking.
LVR Cycles tip: For long-distance gravel riding, pay particular attention to your shoe size and width selection. Your feet may swell slightly over time: your shoes should provide proper support without creating excessive compression at the front.
