With its Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V carbon wheels, wireless SRAM X0 Eagle AXS rear derailleur and RockShox Reverb AXS dropper, the Trek Check-OUT SL 7 AXS is the most refined version of Trek's full-suspension gravel bike: 11.28 kg in size ML. The OCLV 500 carbon frame, with 60 mm of travel at the front and 55 mm at the rear, opens up terrain that is off-limits to conventional gravel bikes. The Era White/Blue Sage finish combines off-white with a soft, bright blue-green sage.

For the demanding cyclist who strings together long crossings off the beaten track and wants the most complete spec from day one: wireless shifting, carbon wheels, a bar-controlled dropper seatpost. It will also suit those preparing for a gravel event on a very technical course.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. For the Check-OUT SL 7 AXS, Trek sticks with OCLV 500 Series: fibres compacted under pressure and heat, with no micro-bubbles, and a lay-up designed for toughness rather than for the scales. It is a consistent choice for a bike that takes repeated impacts and carries a load. The frame and shock together come to 2.40 kg in size ML, under Trek's lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 500 (Check-OUT / Checkpoint SL) | OCLV 600 (Boone) | OCLV 800 (Checkmate SLR) | |
| Level | Trek's adventure carbon | One step above 500 | Top-end gravel |
| Construction | Thick fibre layers, impact-tolerant | Lighter lay-up | The finest lay-up of the three |
| Reference bike | Check-OUT SL 7 AXS: 11.28 kg (ML) | Boone 5: 8.50 kg (56) | Checkmate SLR 7 AXS: 8.47 kg (ML) |
| What it means | Goes the distance under bags | Stiff and light on the shoulder | Race responsiveness, fewer mounts |
In short: it is not the carbon that justifies the price of the SL 7 AXS, it is the spec. Carbon wheels, a wireless derailleur and a wireless dropper post save 690 g compared with the SL 5, on a strictly identical frame.
The X0 Eagle Type T mountain bike derailleur mounts directly onto the UDH hanger, without a conventional derailleur hanger: it withstands impacts against rocks better. The 10-52 cassette offers an even wider range than on the SL 5; with the 38-tooth ring up front, you spin up the rocky ramps above Lamalou-les-Bains without putting a foot down.
The Reverb AXS is operated by a wireless paddle: you drop the saddle with one press before a technical descent, then raise it again for the next effort, with no cable to adjust. The Aeolus Pro 3V carbon rims, stiffer than the Paradigm rims on the SL 5, make the steering more precise when the fork is working.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Check-OUT SL 5 | OCLV 500 | Mechanical Shimano GRX 1x12 | Aluminium Paradigm Comp 25 | 11.97 kg (ML) |
| Check-OUT SL 7 AXS | OCLV 500 | Wireless SRAM AXS 1x12 (X0 Eagle) | Carbon Aeolus Pro 3V | 11.28 kg (ML) |
| Checkpoint SL 7 AXS (rigid) | OCLV 500 | SRAM Force XPLR AXS 1x13 | Carbon Aeolus Elite 35V | 9.33 kg (ML) |
| Checkmate SLR 7 AXS (race) | OCLV 800 | SRAM Force XPLR AXS 1x13 | Carbon Aeolus Pro 3V | 8.47 kg (ML) |
Our take: at 11.28 kg, this SL 7 AXS is 690 g ahead of the SL 5, purely thanks to its spec. The rigid 1x13 Checkpoint SL 7 AXS drops to 9.33 kg: the one to choose if your rides stay on fast-rolling tracks.

LVR sizing advice If you are between two sizes, go for the shorter one if you are targeting technical trails, the longer one for loaded touring. With the 100 mm Reverb AXS, we check in store that the saddle drops low enough for your inseam.

| Why a mountain bike derailleur? | For the very wide 10-52 cassette, and for the strength of the direct mount on the UDH hanger. |
| How many batteries to charge? | Those of the derailleur and the Reverb AXS dropper, with the supplied SRAM charger. |
| Can the white cope with mud? | It cleans up well with plain water; we can apply a protective film to the frame. |
| Is the rack included? | Yes, the Checkout rear rack is supplied; the quoted weight is given without it. |

The LVR Cycles verdict The most complete Check-OUT: carbon wheels, wireless shifting and a wireless dropper post for going far on difficult terrain. Its sage white gives it a light, very polished look.
