For the mountain biker who has learned the ropes on a leisure mountain bike and wants a livelier bike for sporty weekend rides, or for the rider considering their first regional XC marathons without moving straight to carbon. This version is only available in size L, suited to riders from 177 to 188 cm.
Alpha Platinum aluminium, Trek's expertise. Trek grades its alloys in several levels: Alpha Silver for the Marlin, Alpha Platinum for the Procaliber 6 and 8, Alpha NEXT Platinum for the latest Fuel models. On the Procaliber 6, this frame gets all the current standards: tapered head tube, threaded BSA bottom bracket, UDH derailleur hanger and Boost 148 rear end. According to Trek, almost all of its alloy frames, including this one, are now produced with low-carbon aluminium made using renewable energy.
| Alpha Platinum (Procaliber 6 / 8) | Alpha Silver (Marlin) | OCLV Mountain (Procaliber 9.x) | |
| Level | Trek's high-end aluminium for hardtail mountain bikes | Entry-level MTB aluminium | Trek's mountain bike carbon |
| Construction | Internal cables, threaded BSA, UDH, Boost | Simple, robust design | OCLV process, impact-oriented layup, IsoBow |
| Reference bike (M) | Procaliber 6: 13.56 kg | Marlin 7: 14.15 kg | Procaliber 9.5: 12.13 kg |
| What it means | XC geometry, solid frame, controlled budget | Versatile for leisure rides and tracks, heavier | Lighter, more compliant rear end |
Put simply: the Procaliber 6 lacks the IsoBow of the carbon versions, but shares their XC purpose with a 120 mm fork and a dropper post as standard. At 13.56 kg in M, it weighs 1.43 kg more than the carbon Procaliber 9.5; you feel the difference mainly on long climbs, much less on a two-hour ride.
The 30-tooth chainring paired with the 51 sprocket gives a very low gear: you can climb the rocky tracks of the Montagne Noire seated, keeping traction on the rear wheel. The XT M8100 rear derailleur, a level above the Deore cassette it runs on, copes well with dust and spray.
The Judy Silver fork uses a Solo Air spring: the pressure is set with a pump according to your weight, and we set the sag in the workshop during preparation. The TurnKey lever firms it up for accelerations on the road or on fast-rolling forest tracks.
| Model | Frame | Drivetrain | Fork | Weight (M) |
| Marlin 7 | Alpha Silver alloy | SRAM NX Eagle 1x12 | Judy Silver 100 mm | 14.15 kg |
| Procaliber 6 (XT rear derailleur) | Alpha Platinum alloy | Shimano 1x12, Deore cassette | Judy Silver 120 mm | 13.56 kg |
| Procaliber 8 (XT / SLX) | Alpha Platinum alloy | Shimano XT / SLX 1x12 | Recon Gold 120 mm | 12.78 kg |
| Procaliber 9.5 (Judy Gold) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Shimano Deore 1x12 | Judy Gold 120 mm | 12.13 kg |
Our take: with a comparable drivetrain, the Procaliber 8 saves 780 g thanks to its Recon Gold fork and MT410 brakes. Moving to carbon with the 9.5 takes off another 650 g and adds IsoBow.

LVR sizing advice This colour only comes in L, for riders from 177 to 188 cm. If you are at the lower limit, the dropper post and 70 mm stem leave some margin; below that, look at another colour of the Procaliber 6.

| Only in size L? | Yes, this colour is offered in L only; the other Procaliber 6 colours cover S to XL. |
| Is a dropper post useful in XC? | Yes: with the saddle lowered on steep descents, the centre of gravity drops and control improves. |
| Going tubeless? | The Kovee rims and Rekon Race tyres are Tubeless Ready: we do the conversion with sealant. |
| Does the mauve show dirt? | This light shade shows dust, but a simple rinse with water restores its shine. |

The LVR Cycles verdict A complete XC hardtail, with a dropper post and a very low-geared 1x12 drivetrain, to progress without complication. Its lavender mauve makes a welcome change from the usual blacks and greys.
