For the XC mountain biker who values steering precision and fork behaviour on technical descents, and wants a carbon frame without committing to a race build. It is well suited to riders on rocky trails like those of the Caroux.
OCLV Mountain carbon, the off-road version. OCLV is Trek's in-house carbon process: the fibre sheets are compacted under heat and pressure to eliminate micro-voids. The Mountain version is tuned to withstand mountain bike impacts rather than chase the last gram, and the frame benefits from Trek's lifetime warranty. On the Procaliber, it comes with IsoBow: the seatstays extend beyond the seat tube, giving vertical compliance at the rear while saving weight overall.
| OCLV Mountain (Procaliber 9.x) | Alpha Platinum (Procaliber 6 / 8) | Alpha Silver (Marlin) | |
| Level | Trek's mountain bike carbon, lifetime frame warranty | High-end aluminium | Entry-level MTB aluminium |
| Construction | OCLV process, layup focused on impact resistance, IsoBow | Internal cables, threaded BSA, UDH | Simple, robust design |
| Reference bike (M) | Procaliber 9.5: 12.73 kg | Procaliber 8: 12.78 kg | Marlin 7: 14.15 kg |
| What it means | Lighter, rear end flexes over bumps | Heavier, no IsoBow | Versatile, noticeably heavier |
In short: this Procaliber 9.5 keeps the carbon frame and Deore drivetrain, but adopts a Fox Rhythm 34 fork with Float EVOL spring and GRIP cartridge. Trek quotes 12.73 kg in M, 600 g above the Judy Gold version: the gain is measured in fork behaviour rather than lightness.
The Fox Rhythm 34 uses the chassis of Fox's 34 range, with 34 mm stanchions and a 15 mm Kabolt axle that tightens without a protruding lever. The GRIP cartridge offers a three-position lever: open for descending, middle for smooth tracks, firm for accelerating on tarmac.
The 170 mm Shimano MT520 cranks from S to ML become 175 mm in L and XL, and the 32-tooth chainring turns a 10-51 cassette. The carbon frame's 92 mm PressFit bottom bracket needs careful fitting: in the workshop, we check it to prevent any creaking.
| Model | Frame | Drivetrain | Fork | Weight (M) |
| Procaliber 8 (Eagle 70) | Alpha Platinum alloy | SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type 1x12 | Recon Gold 120 mm | 13.73 kg |
| Procaliber 9.5 (Fox Rhythm) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Shimano Deore 1x12 | Fox Rhythm 34, 120 mm | 12.73 kg |
| Procaliber 9.6 | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type 1x12 | Fox Factory 34, 130 mm | 12.38 kg |
| Procaliber 9.7 (Rekon Race) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | SID 120 mm | 11.38 kg |
Our take: compared with the Judy Gold fork version (12.13 kg), this 9.5 weighs 600 g more but gains a more precise Fox 34. The 9.6 adds the 130 mm Fox Factory and Eagle 70 for 12.38 kg.

LVR sizing advice If you are between two sizes, the smaller gives a more playful bike on technical descents, the larger a more stretched-out position for long climbs. The cranks go from 170 to 175 mm in L and XL, and the dropper post from 100 to 170 mm depending on the frame.

| Fox Rhythm or Factory? | The Rhythm shares the Factory's chassis, with a simpler cartridge and no Kashima coating. |
| How do I set up the fork? | Air pressure according to your weight, then rebound: we do the set-up with you at handover. |
| Does the PressFit bottom bracket creak? | Not when properly fitted; we check it at every workshop service. |
| Does the black show the dirt? | It shows dry dust a little, but looks good again after a simple rinse. |

The LVR Cycles verdict A Procaliber 9.5 that relies on the quality of its fork, to attack technical descents with more confidence. Its deep Dark Star black gives it an understated, sharp look.
