Trek Wahoo 24 Path Crystal White: the bike for big family rides

For a child from 1.30 to 1.50 m, the Trek Wahoo 24 Path offers the lightness of a simple bike and the versatility of 8 speeds: Trek quotes it at 9.80 kg in one size. Its Alpha Silver aluminium frame, alloy fork and V-brakes put ease of use first. Crystal White dresses the frame in a crisp, brilliant white.

Who is it for?

For families who rack up the miles at the weekend, from the Canal du Midi to the greenways of the Hérault, and want their child to keep up without wearing themselves out. It suits a child who already pedals confidently and loves going far.

The LVR workshop view

Alpha Silver aluminium for a nimble 24-inch bike. This grade of Trek alloy is the basis of every Wahoo. Combined with an alloy fork and 24-inch wheels, it keeps the bike under 10 kg while still offering 8 speeds.

Wahoo 24 Path (this bike)	Wahoo 24 Trail	Precaliber 24 suspension
Frame	Alpha Silver, adult-bike style	Alpha Silver, mountain bike style	Alpha Silver, rack mounts
Fork / brakes	Alloy, V-brake	Rigid, hydraulic discs	45 mm suspension, V-brake
Tyres	Connection Comp 2.00 in	Kenda Amrak 2.20 in	Bontrager XR1 2.25 in
What it means	Lively and light: 9.80 kg	More at home on trails: 10.50 kg	Absorbs bumps but 11.90 kg

In other words: between the Wahoo 24 Path (9.80 kg) and the Precaliber 24 suspension (11.90 kg), there is more than 2 kg of difference. For a child, that difference is felt on every climb and at every start.

The 11-38 cassette covers a wide spread between the smallest and largest sprockets. With the 28-tooth chainring, your child has a very easy gear for the hills around Béziers and a taller gear to keep the pace on the flat, with just one shifter to manage.

At under 10 kg for a 24-inch bike with gears, the Wahoo stays easy to handle: your child can lift it up a kerb or put it away in a bike shed. The chain guard on the chainring prevents oil-stained trousers and marked calves.

Which Wahoo should you choose?

Model	Wheels / child's height	Gears	Brakes	Weight
Wahoo 20 Path	20 in / 1.14 to 1.32 m	8	V-brake	8.75 kg
Wahoo 24 Path	24 in / 1.30 to 1.50 m	8	V-brake	9.80 kg
Wahoo 24 Trail	24 in / 1.30 to 1.50 m	9	Hydraulic discs	10.50 kg
Wahoo 26 Path	26 in / 1.46 to 1.60 m	8	V-brake	10.20 kg

Our take: at 9.80 kg, this Wahoo 24 Path weighs 2.10 kg less than the Precaliber 24 suspension. If your child is already over 1.46 m, the Wahoo 26 Path (10.20 kg) will give them more room to grow.
