Who is it for?

For the endurance rider who strings together long rides and wants to reach the summit fresh, without giving up the pleasure of a high-end road bike. The two sizes on offer cover very different builds: 168 to 174 cm in 54, 180 to 185 cm in 58.

The LVR workshop view

OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has moulded its OCLV frames by pressing the carbon plies at high temperature to eliminate voids; the Series 800 of this Domane+ thus achieves good stiffness with little material. The frame hides the TQ HPR60 at the bottom bracket, keeps the rear IsoSpeed and takes mudguards thanks to its mounts. Like all OCLV frames, it benefits from Trek's lifetime warranty.

In short: this version of the SLR 7 gets the 60 Nm TQ HPR60 motor, 10 Nm more than the HPR50 series, with Ultegra Di2 2x12, Aeolus Pro 37 wheels and 32 mm Kwaremont RSL tyres in 320 tpi. It is the best balance in the SLR range between spec and torque.

On a ride lasting several hours, it is the contact points that make the difference: the Verse Short Pro saddle with carbon rails, short and 145 mm wide, suits low positions, and the Pro IsoCore VR-SF handlebar is designed to damp vibrations. The rear IsoSpeed completes this filtering work.

The TQ HPR60 brings 60 Nm and up to 350 W peak: enough to tackle the ramps of the Montagne Noire seated, keeping a smooth cadence. Its quiet running and progressive push preserve the feeling of riding a road bike; the help disappears at 25 km/h, a speed you exceed on descents or on the flat under your own steam.

Our take: the SLR 7 HPR60 (12.65 kg in 56) saves 200 g on the SLR 6 (12.85 kg) while moving up to Ultegra Di2, Aeolus Pro 37 wheels and 60 Nm. The SLR 9 HPR60 (11.84 kg in 56) sheds a further 810 g with Dura-Ace Di2 and Aeolus RSL 37 wheels.

LVR sizing advice

In this colour, Trek offers the 54 (168 to 174 cm, inside leg of 78 to 82 cm) and the 58 (180 to 185 cm, inside leg of 84 to 87 cm). The 58 gets 172.5 mm cranks, a 44 cm handlebar, a 100 mm stem and a 320 mm seatpost.

The 54 or the 58?	The 54 is for 168 to 174 cm, the 58 for 180 to 185 cm; in between, another colour is available in 56.
Which saddle is fitted?	A Verse Short Pro with carbon rails, 145 mm wide.
Can you hear the motor?	Hardly at all: the TQ HPR60 is known for its quiet operation.
Does the white show the dirt?	It shows dust more, but cleans easily with soapy water.
