Trek Wahoo 20 Path Radioactive Red: a real grown-up bike, in a 20-inch version

The Trek Wahoo 20 Path takes the codes of an adult bike and scales them for a child from 1.14 to 1.32 m: Alpha Silver aluminium frame, 8-speed microSHIFT drivetrain and Bontrager cockpit. It weighs 8.75 kg according to Trek, in one size. Radioactive Red is a dazzling red that can be spotted from afar in a park or on a cycle lane.

Who is it for?

For the child who looks at their parents' bike with envy and wants their own, with real gears. For parents who also want them to be visible: a bright red stands out far better than a dark shade when your child is riding ahead.

The LVR workshop view

Alpha Silver aluminium, a grown-up frame in a 20-inch format. Trek keeps the Alpha name for its in-house alloys, and Silver is used on its entry-level bikes. On this Wahoo 20 Path, it makes for a stiff, light frame, so much so that the complete bike comes in at just 8.75 kg, the lowest figure in the whole Wahoo range.

In other words: for the same child height, this Path weighs 2.15 kg less than the 7-speed Precaliber 20. On a 20-inch bike, that difference is felt every time they pull away and every time the bike has to be lifted.

The Wahoo geometry takes its cue from adult bikes rather than a toy bike: your child gets a position close to their parents'. Combined with the 114 mm cranks, suited to the length of their legs, it lets them spin their legs without excessive effort.

The padded saddle includes its 230 mm seatpost and a mount for a Blendr rear light; the stem also takes a Blendr light. For winter journeys or late afternoon rides, front and rear lights fit neatly, with no makeshift clamps.

LVR sizing advice

Trek recommends this Wahoo 20 Path for a child measuring 1.14 to 1.32 m. Once seated, your child should be able to touch the ground with their toes and keep their arms slightly bent. The simplest way is still to come and try it with them in our Béziers shop.

How long will it last?	As long as your child stays within the 1.14 to 1.32 m range, raising the saddle over time.
Are the pedals standard?	They are Satellite kids' pedals with a 9/16 thread, easy to replace.
What maintenance?	A check of the brakes and chain a few times a year, which we carry out in the workshop.
Is the red glossy?	Yes, it is a highly saturated red that catches the eye.
