For 5 to 8 year olds who are confident on a bike and ready to learn about gears, and for families who ride hilly routes or dirt tracks. It is well suited to Sunday rides that string together small climbs and descents.
An Alpha Silver frame that takes gears and suspension. On a 20-inch Alpha Silver aluminium base, Trek fits a suspension fork with 35 mm of travel, a Shimano Tourney TY300 derailleur and a seven-sprocket SunRun 14-28 freewheel. The linear-pull brakes and kickstand remain standard: this is a more complete Precaliber, designed to leave the tarmac behind.

| What it means | Simple and light | Climbs better, soaks up bumps | Hydraulic disc brakes |
In other words: 10.90 kg, seven gears, a fork that smooths out tracks and two hand brakes. The Precaliber for the 5 to 8 year old who wants to follow the grown-ups beyond the park.
Seven gears from 14 to 28 teeth give enough range to climb a hill without putting a foot down and to ride fast on the flat. Teach your child to change gear before the slope, while pedalling gently: the Tourney TY300 derailleur then shifts smoothly.
The 35 mm suspension fork smooths out roots and stones on tracks. It takes the strain off your child's arms and wrists, helping them hold their line. On tarmac you hardly notice it; on the white gravel tracks around Béziers, it brings real comfort.
| Model | Wheels | Child's height | Gears / brakes | Weight |
| Precaliber 20 Freewheel | 20 in | 114 to 132 cm | 1 speed, 2 V-brakes | 9.45 kg |
| Precaliber 20 7-speed | 20 in | 114 to 132 cm | 7 speeds, 2 V-brakes, 35 mm fork | 10.90 kg |
| Wahoo 20 Path | 20 in | 114 to 132 cm | 8-speed microSHIFT, 2 V-brakes | 8.75 kg |
| Wahoo 20 Trail | 20 in | 114 to 132 cm | 9-speed microSHIFT, hydraulic discs | 9.85 kg |
Our take: at 10.90 kg, it weighs 1.45 kg more than the Precaliber 20 Freewheel, the trade-off for gears and suspension. The Wahoo 20 Path (8.75 kg, 8 speeds) is lighter but has no suspension fork.
