Who is it for?

For the 8 to 12 year old who loves long family rides on greenways, along canals or on vineyard tracks. It also suits a child who rides regularly and needs a comfortable bike.

The LVR workshop view

An Alpha Silver frame equipped like an adult bike. Trek has given this Precaliber 24 an Alpha Silver aluminium frame with rack and kickstand mounts, a replaceable derailleur hanger and a 135 x 5 mm rear quick release. These are the standards of a grown-up bike: in the workshop, the hanger is easy to replace after a fall, and the bike can be equipped for everyday journeys.

Stage	Versatile, all tracks	Roads, greenways	Mountain bike trails

What it means	Comfort on rough ground	Lighter, 8-speed microSHIFT	9-speed, hydraulic discs

In other words: 11.90 kg, an 8-speed 13-34 Shimano Tourney drivetrain, a 45 mm suspension fork and a padded 24-inch saddle. A versatile bike for 8 to 12 year olds that climbs well and soaks up the bumps.

The 45 mm fork and 2.25-inch tyres complement each other: one absorbs the shocks, the others smooth out small vibrations. On the vineyard tracks around Béziers, your child feels fewer jolts and keeps more energy for the end of the ride.

The padded 24-inch saddle and the 560 mm handlebar with 40 mm of rise put your child in a comfortable position for riding for a long time. Remember to check the saddle height every few months: children of this age grow fast, and a saddle that is too low tires the knees.

Which Precaliber should you choose?

Model	Wheels	Child's height	Gears / brakes	Weight
Precaliber 20 7-speed	20 in	114 to 132 cm	7 speeds, 2 V-brakes, 35 mm fork	10.90 kg
Precaliber 24 suspension	24 in	130 to 150 cm	8 speeds, 2 V-brakes, 45 mm fork	11.90 kg
Wahoo 24 Path	24 in	130 to 150 cm	8-speed microSHIFT, 2 V-brakes	9.80 kg
Wahoo 24 Trail	24 in	130 to 150 cm	9-speed microSHIFT, hydraulic discs	10.50 kg

Our take: at 11.90 kg, this Precaliber 24 weighs 1.40 kg more than the Wahoo 24 Trail, but brings a suspension fork. For long rides on varied tracks, it is the comfortable choice.
