Ceramic bearings are often associated with racing. This Keo Blade Ceramic proves otherwise: fitted with a tension-8 blade, the softest in the range, it's aimed at riders who want a premium pedal while keeping clipping in and out easy. LOOK designs this tension for beginners and leisure riders, which also makes it a good option for knees that appreciate effortless unclipping.
The Ti uses exactly the same platform and bearings as this model, but replaces the Chromoly+ axle with a titanium one: each pedal drops to 95 g, a saving of 20 g per foot. That saving mainly appeals to climbers fine-tuning every gram on their bike. For most riders, the Ceramic already delivers the bulk of the Blade family's performance, with a more forgiving steel axle.
Start with this 8 blade, then move up to tension 12 if you experience unintentional release when accelerating hard: the blade kit fits in seconds with its tool. The stainless plates eventually get scratched by the cleats; this is purely cosmetic and has no effect on retention. Check your Keo Grip cleats regularly and replace them as soon as they show cracks or deep grooves.
