The Shimano Ultegra PD-R8000 SPD-SL pedals are pro-level clipless pedals, delivering top-level performance thanks to their carbon composite body. They are perfectly matched to the extra-rigid Hollowtech II crankset, guaranteeing lossless power transmission. Compared to its predecessor PD-6800, the PD-R8000 is 0.7mm thinner and has an extra-large contact surface, protected by a stainless steel cover. It is suitable for road, triathlon and time trial use, with an SPD-SL pedal system and 3-hole cleat mounting.
The pedals are made of carbon for the body and CrMo steel for the axle, with a compact bearing and a height of 15.8 mm. They offer 6° freedom of movement (0° or 2° optional) and a release angle of 33°, with recommended shims SM-SH10, SM-SH11 or SM-SH12. The pedal body is robust and resistant to wear and torsion, thanks to a wide positioning of the bearings for a stable and even distribution of pressure. The pedals feature single-sided linkage, cartridge-shaped axle, densified mechanism, adjustable trigger threshold and stainless steel cover. They are also equipped with an optional reflector SM-PD63.
