Some riders want to feel their shoe fixed solidly to the pedal, without the slightest pivot. The black version of the Delta standard meets that need: no free rotation, so your foot is always in the same position. It's aimed at riders whose position has been professionally fitted and who have no joint problems.
The black suits riders who are confident in their setup. If in doubt, or if you feel tension in your knees, choose the red, which is more forgiving. For Keo pedals, look instead at Keo Grip cleats.
A cleat with no float is unforgiving: the angle must follow the natural orientation of your foot. Have this position checked in store before piling on the miles, then tighten the bolts gradually in a criss-cross pattern.
