Plenty of cyclists give up on chest straps because they squeeze, rub or slip. The HR80 is worn on the forearm or upper arm, in a jacquard-knit band, and sends your heart rate to your GPS, watch or app. No buttons: it switches on when you put it on and goes to sleep when you take it off.
The HR80 is optical: it reads blood flow beneath the skin. The HR50 chest strap picks up the heart's electrical signal (ECG) and responds faster to sudden changes in effort. For short intervals and sprints, the HR50 keeps the edge. For long rides, indoor training and anyone who simply can't get on with a chest strap, the HR80 is far more comfortable, and its dual Bluetooth connection lets you feed your GPS and Zwift at the same time, for example.
In the box: sensor with armband, spare armband, instructions.
