For the strong rider preparing for the individual time trials of their regional committee or team time trials, and for the duathlete who wants a fast bike on draft-free courses. It is aimed at riders who can already hold an aero position and want reliable data to progress.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. OCLV is Trek's in-house process, in place since 1992: heat and pressure drive out the air trapped between the fibre sheets, and the higher the series number, the less material is needed for a given stiffness. The Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS uses Series 800, which was long the top of the brand's road range. Here it makes room for a Bento box and a down tube compartment without weakening the frame, which carries a Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 800 (Speed Concept SLR) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | |
| Level | Trek's former top-end road carbon | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level road carbon |
| Construction | Lay-up optimised for large-section aero tubes | 3D moulding, fewer fibre overlaps | Same process, slightly more material |
| Reference bike | Frame 1,522 g painted + fork 410 g | Madone SLR: frame 796 g (ML) + fork 350 g | Madone SL: frame 1,054 g (ML) + fork 363 g |
| What it means | Stiff and durable, integrated storage and IsoSpeed | Up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Heavier, more affordable budget |
In short: a triathlon frame is not chosen by the gram. The 1,522 g of the Speed Concept are explained by deep sections and integration, assets that save far more time than a hundred grams or so on a fast course.
With no derailleur cables, the cockpit stays clean and easy to adjust: you can change the extension height without recabling everything, which saves real time when fine-tuning your position. The 51 mm rims hold their speed well on the long straights of a time trial.
In a time trial, the displayed power lets you split your effort between the outward leg and the return into the wind, a common situation around Béziers when the tramontane sets in. With the power meter fitted as standard, you can then analyse your races to refine your strategy.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 37 | 8.97 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM Force AXS + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 | 9.02 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM RED AXS + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
Our take: this SLR 7 AXS is the most affordable Speed Concept with a power meter; the SLR 9 AXS keeps the power meter but steps up to RED AXS E1 and RSL 51 wheels, with no complete bike weight published by Trek.

LVR sizing advice Between two sizes, do not decide from the chart alone: the aero position depends on your flexibility and the height of the extensions. We set up the mid-rise bar and seatpost offset during the bike fit.
