The Trek Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS comes here in Serpentine, a deep, dark red enhanced with bright red. The RED AXS E1 groupset is operated entirely wirelessly, its chainset measures your power, and the RSL 51 rims complete a build designed for time trialling. On the scales, only the frame is documented by Trek France: 1,522 g once painted, plus 410 g for the fork.

For the time trial rouleur and the non-drafting short-distance triathlete who want the most accomplished bike in the range. It is aimed at the racer who analyses their power data after every effort to improve.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Developed by Trek in the early 1990s, OCLV involves pressing and heating the carbon layers until every air bubble is driven out. The Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS, the best-equipped version in the range, nevertheless shares the same OCLV Series 800 frame as the SLR 7: moving up the range means a better drivetrain and wheels. Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 800 (Speed Concept SLR) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | |
| Level | Trek's former top-end road carbon | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level road carbon |
| Construction | Lay-up optimised for large-section aero tubes | 3D moulding, fewer fibre overlaps | Same process, slightly more material |
| Reference bike | Frame 1,522 g painted + fork 410 g | Madone SLR: frame 796 g (ML) + fork 350 g | Madone SL: frame 1,054 g (ML) + fork 363 g |
| What it means | Stiff and durable, integrated storage and IsoSpeed | Up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Heavier, more affordable budget |
The key point: the top-end Speed Concept doesn't change carbon, and that makes sense. On a triathlon course, aerodynamic drag matters far more than frame weight; the extra cost of the SLR 9 AXS goes into RED AXS and RSL rims.
In a time trial, the integrated power meter lets you pace your start precisely and keep something in reserve for the end of the course. The cockpit with no derailleur cables makes it easier to adjust the extension height, which we fine-tune over successive sessions.
Trek offers two possible crank lengths in M, L and XL: the longer one for short, powerful efforts, the shorter one to spare the hips in triathlon. On a course exposed to the tramontane, consistent power matters more than the speed on the display.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 37 | 8.97 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM Force AXS + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 | 9.02 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM RED AXS + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
Our take: no other Speed Concept combines RED AXS E1 with an integrated power meter and RSL rims. The SLR 9 with Dura-Ace Di2 will suit Shimano loyalists, without a power meter as standard.
