The Trek Madone SL 6 Gen 8 combines the aerodynamics of a race bike, the comfort of IsoFlow and electronic Shimano 105 Di2 2x12, with Aeolus Elite 50 carbon wheels, for 8.16 kg in size ML. A bike designed to eat up the miles, fast and for a long time. The Gloss Dark Star/Matte Deep Smoke colourway pairs a deep gloss black with a very understated matt smoked grey.

For the rider who strings together rides of 150 km and more, audax events or big sportives, and wants to go fast without finishing stiff and sore. It will also appeal to anyone who prefers a discreet bike to bright colours.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Trek has made its carbon frames using the OCLV process for more than thirty years: each fibre layer is consolidated in a heated mould under pressure so that no micro-bubbles remain. The higher the series, the more optimised the lay-up and the less carbon is needed to withstand the same loads. The Madone SL 6 stays with OCLV 500, with a painted frame of 1,054 g in ML, and benefits from the Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 500 (Madone SL 6) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | SL / SLR difference | |
| Level | Entry-level carbon in the road range | Trek's top-end carbon | Identical aero, only the weight changes |
| Construction | Proven OCLV process, more fibres | 3D moulding, fewer overlaps | OCLV 900 up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 |
| Reference bike | Madone SL 6: 8.16 kg (ML) | Madone SLR 7: 7.52 kg (ML) | 0.64 kg, including 271 g on frame + fork |
| What it means | Electronics and carbon wheels at this price | One-piece Aero RSL cockpit, Ultegra Di2 | The SLR is aimed at racing and the mountains |
Put simply: with the SL 6, Trek prioritises electronics and carbon wheels over OCLV 900 carbon. For most riders, instant shifting and 50 mm rims pay off more day to day than 271 g saved on the frameset.
Over long distances, aerodynamics saves energy every hour, and Trek measured the whole rider, bike and bottles system to design these tubes. IsoFlow adds vertical compliance up to 80% greater than that of the Gen 7 Madone: enough to keep your back intact after several hours in the saddle.
Di2 also reduces hand fatigue, since each shift takes a simple press. Just bear in mind that this Madone has no integrated storage: a saddle bag or frame bag is a must for long self-supported rides.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SL 5 Pro | OCLV 500 | Shimano 105 mechanical 2x12 | Aeolus Elite 48 carbon | 8.44 kg (ML) |
| Madone SL 6 | OCLV 500 | Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Elite 50 carbon | 8.16 kg (ML) |
| Madone SL 7 | OCLV 500 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.87 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.52 kg (ML) |
Our take: for long distances, the SL 6 offers aero and comfort with 480 g less than the SL 5. The SL 7 saves a further 290 g with Ultegra Di2, at 7.87 kg.
