The Trek Madone SLR 7 AXS Gen 8 is a carbon aero road bike in OCLV Series 900, built with wireless SRAM Force AXS E1 2x12 with power meter and Aeolus Pro 51 wheels, for 7.22 kg in size ML. It is a great gateway for the rider leaving a cable-operated drivetrain behind and discovering electronic shifting. Its Serpentine colourway fades from a dark, almost burgundy red to a brighter red.

For the experienced rider who has spent years on a mechanical drivetrain and is taking the leap to wireless and a high-end frame. It also suits the cyclist discovering power-based training who wants a complete bike, with nothing to add.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has compacted its fibres under heat and pressure to eliminate micro-voids. The higher the series, the more material the engineers can remove without losing stiffness: the Series 900 chosen for the Madone SLR 7 AXS is 3D-moulded, with fewer fibre overlaps, and is up to 20 % stronger than OCLV 800. The painted frame weighs 796 g in ML and the fork 350 g, with Trek's lifetime warranty included.
| OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | OCLV 800 (former top end) | |
| Level | The top of the OCLV range | The entry point to Trek road carbon | Former top-end road carbon |
| Construction | 3D moulding, fewer overlaps | OCLV process, more material | Classic OCLV process |
| Reference bike | Madone SLR 7 AXS: 7.22 kg (ML) | Madone SL 7: 7.87 kg (ML) | Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS: 9.02 kg (M) |
| What it means | Frame + fork 1,146 g versus 1,417 g for the SL | Same aero design, more affordable price | Priority on aero and storage |
Put simply: the Madone SLR 7 AXS pairs Trek's cutting-edge frame with a SRAM drivetrain that measures your watts straight out of the box. Compared with the Shimano SLR 7, it claims 300 g less and easier gearing; all it lacks compared with the SLR 9 AXS are the RSL wheels and the RED groupset.
The SRAM AXS logic is easy to learn: a paddle on the right moves the chain down to the smaller sprockets, on the left up to the larger ones, and pressing both together changes chainring. After two or three rides, most riders never look back, especially when they need to shift several gears at once when accelerating.
The SRAM Force hydraulic disc brakes modulate braking finely on the descents of the Minervois, with little effort at the lever, even with your hands on the drops. The SRAM AXS app lets you customise the paddles and check battery levels; we set it up with you at delivery.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SL 7 | OCLV 500 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.87 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.52 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM Force AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.22 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.00 kg (ML) |
Our take: moving from a mechanical bike to this SLR 7 AXS means gaining wireless shifting, a power meter and a 796 g OCLV 900 frame. The SLR 7 with Shimano Ultegra Di2 will better suit someone who wants to keep Shimano ergonomics, at the cost of 300 g more.

LVR sizing advice Between two sizes, the smaller one favours lively handling, the larger one a longer, more stable upper-body position. Cranks and handlebar width follow the size.

| Hard to get used to? | No, the paddle logic is learned in a few rides. |
| What happens if a battery runs flat? | That derailleur stops shifting; the AXS app shows the charge level in advance. |
| Customising the controls? | Yes, via the SRAM AXS app, set up with you in the shop. |
| Which sizes? | From XS to XL in this colourway. |

The LVR Cycles verdict A successful introduction to the wireless world, on Trek's best frame. Its deep Serpentine red gives it real presence.
