The Trek Madone SLR 7 AXS Gen 8 weighs 7.22 kg in size ML, with an OCLV Series 900 carbon frame, a SRAM Force AXS 2x12 drivetrain and a chainset fitted with a power meter. Its 48/35 paired with a 10-33 cassette makes it the easiest Madone SLR 7 to take up the cols. The Purple Phaze/Amethyst Marble paintwork layers an intense purple with marbled amethyst veins.

For the climber who loves long ascents and wants gearing that keeps a smooth cadence above 8 %, while enjoying a fast bike in the valleys. It is also aimed at the rider who manages their efforts in the mountains using watts, so as not to blow up before the summit.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has compacted its fibres under heat and pressure to eliminate micro-voids. The higher the series, the more material the engineers can remove without losing stiffness: the Series 900 chosen for the Madone SLR 7 AXS is 3D-moulded, with fewer fibre overlaps, and is up to 20 % stronger than OCLV 800. The painted frame weighs 796 g in ML and the fork 350 g, with Trek's lifetime warranty included.
| OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | OCLV 800 (former top end) | |
| Level | The top of the OCLV range | The entry point to Trek road carbon | Former top-end road carbon |
| Construction | 3D moulding, fewer overlaps | OCLV process, more material | Classic OCLV process |
| Reference bike | Madone SLR 7 AXS: 7.22 kg (ML) | Madone SL 7: 7.87 kg (ML) | Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS: 9.02 kg (M) |
| What it means | Frame + fork 1,146 g versus 1,417 g for the SL | Same aero design, more affordable price | Priority on aero and storage |
Put simply: the Madone SLR 7 AXS pairs Trek's cutting-edge frame with a SRAM drivetrain that measures your watts straight out of the box. Compared with the Shimano SLR 7, it claims 300 g less and easier gearing; all it lacks compared with the SLR 9 AXS are the RSL wheels and the RED groupset.
In the mountains, a power meter is as much a pacing tool as a training tool: by setting a target power, you climb the Caroux or the Espinouse at your own pace, without getting carried away at the foot of the climb. The 35x33 gives an easier gear than the 36x30 of the Shimano Madone SLR 7.
The 796 g frame in ML and the 350 g fork put this Madone among the climbers' bikes, even though its tubes are designed for aerodynamics. The 28 mm cotton-casing Aeolus RSL RD tyres grip well on hairpin descents; for broken mountain roads, switching to 30 or 32 mm is still possible.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SL 7 | OCLV 500 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.87 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.52 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM Force AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.22 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.00 kg (ML) |
Our take: for the mountains, this SLR 7 AXS combines 300 g less than the SLR 7 Di2 with easier gearing. The SLR 9 AXS only saves a further 220 g with far more expensive components.
