For the brand enthusiast who wants to mark the anniversary without going for an ICON edition on an SLR 9 base, for the collector who rides their bikes instead of hanging them on the wall, or for the cyclist looking for a Madone SL 7 with a truly different look in the bunch.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Beneath its anniversary finish, the First 50 Replica uses exactly the same frame as the Madone SL 7: OCLV series 500 carbon, compacted under heat and pressure using the process Trek launched in 1992, sixteen years after its very first frame. The paint changes; the construction and Trek's lifetime frame warranty remain those of the standard version.
| OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 800 (Speed Concept SLR) | |
| Level | Entry-level carbon of the road range | Trek's most refined carbon | Trek's former top-end road carbon |
| Construction | OCLV process, slightly thicker layup | 3D moulding, fewer overlaps, up to 20 % stronger than OCLV 800 | Layup designed for aero and integration |
| Reference bike | Standard Madone SL 7: 7.87 kg (ML) | Madone SLR 7 AXS: 7.22 kg (ML) | Speed Concept SLR 7: 8.97 kg (M) |
| What it means | Painted frame 1,054 g + fork 363 g (ML), sensible budget | Painted frame 796 g + fork 350 g (ML), one-piece bar and stem | Painted frame 1,522 g + fork 410 g, triathlon bike |
Put simply: you are not buying a different bike, but a Madone SL 7 dressed up for the brand's 50th anniversary. The ICON editions, on the other hand, are based on the SLR 9 AXS in OCLV 900 carbon and get down to 6.90 kg in ML: a different class of weight and components.
The ICON editions, The First 50 ICON and No. 76 ICON, start from a Madone SLR 9 AXS with a special Project One paint scheme and Aeolus RSL 65X wheels. The Replica takes the visual spirit of these models onto the more affordable SL 7 base: you get the same nod to history with proven race components.
This bike is no museum piece: reliable Ultegra Di2, 28 mm tyres with clearance up to 32 mm, IsoFlow for comfort and an easy-to-maintain threaded T47 bottom bracket. On the roads of the Hérault, it rides exactly like a Madone SL 7, with the added pleasure of riding a paint job that tells the story of the brand.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SL 7 (standard) | OCLV 500 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.87 kg (ML) |
| Madone SL 7 The First 50 Replica | OCLV 500 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.87 kg (ML, standard base) |
| Madone SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.52 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS The First 50 ICON | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS + power meter | Aeolus RSL 65X carbon | 6.90 kg (ML) |
Our take: the Replica shares its frame, groupset and wheels with the standard SL 7; only the paint changes. For 970 g less, you need to go for The First 50 ICON edition in OCLV 900 with SRAM RED AXS, at 6.90 kg.

LVR sizing advice Same geometry as the Madone SL 7: between two sizes, choose the smaller for a more compact position, the larger if you have a long torso. Handlebar, stem and cranks change with the size.
