Trek Domane+ SLR 6 Matte Deep Smoke: carbon and Di2 at the first SLR level

The Trek Domane+ SLR 6 is the gateway to the Domane+ SLR range: an OCLV Series 800 carbon frame with rear IsoSpeed, a 50 Nm TQ HPR50 mid-drive motor, a 360 Wh battery and a Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 electronic groupset. With its Paradigm Comp 25 wheels and 32 mm Kwaremont Pro tyres, it weighs 12.85 kg in size 56 according to Trek. Matte Deep Smoke is a very dark grey, almost black, with a matt finish.

Who is it for?

For the endurance rider who wants a genuine carbon road bike, with discreet help for tired days or overly long climbs. It also suits couples or groups of friends of differing abilities: the assist closes the gap without changing the nature of the ride.

OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. The SLR 6 opens the Domane+ SLR range in OCLV Series 800 carbon. Trek compacts its fibre layers under heat and pressure to drive out micro-voids, and the higher the series, the less material is needed for the same stiffness. This frame houses the motor at the bottom bracket and keeps IsoSpeed decoupling at the rear, to the benefit of comfort in the saddle. Trek lifetime warranty on the frame.

In short: the SLR 6 opens the door to the OCLV Series 800 frame and IsoSpeed of the Domane+ SLR, with 12-speed Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting, Paradigm Comp 25 alloy wheels and the 50 Nm TQ HPR50 motor.

The TQ HPR50 develops 50 Nm and 300 W peak, measured power that keeps the rider at the heart of the effort. The motor goes unnoticed beneath the bottom bracket, and this Domane+ keeps the silhouette of a classic road bike, with no bulky motor housing.

Shimano 105 Di2 shifts at the press of a button, with the same precision after 100 km as at the start; we update its firmware and the TQ motor's in the workshop. The Praxis carbon cranks and KVF aero seatpost save weight, and the 32 mm tubeless-ready tyres add comfort on the coarse tarmac of the Hérault. Assistance stops at 25 km/h.

Which Domane+ should you choose?

Our take: the SLR 6 (12.85 kg in 56) is only 200 g heavier than the SLR 7 HPR60 (12.65 kg in 56), which adds Ultegra Di2, Aeolus Pro 37 wheels and 10 Nm of torque. The Gen 5 Domane+ SL 6 AXS drops to 12.11 kg in ML with a 40 Nm HPR40 motor.
