For the demanding climber who wants an electric bike as close as possible to a high-end road bike, and who judges a machine by its lightness and the precision of its drivetrain.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. The Domane+ SL 9 AXS keeps the OCLV Series 500 carbon of the other Domane+ SL models: here, the weight saving comes from the spec, Aeolus RSL 37 wheels and a RED groupset, rather than from a more expensive carbon. The process remains Trek's own, layers compacted under pressure and heat to avoid any internal flaws, with a lifetime warranty on the frame.

In short: the SL 9 AXS is the lightest Domane+ SL, at 11.00 kg in ML, and the only one to get the SRAM RED XPLR eTap AXS drivetrain. The frame and HPR40 motor are those of the SL 6 and SL 7: what you pay for here is Aeolus RSL wheels and a RED groupset.
The SRAM RED XPLR eTap AXS drivetrain, with its wide-range derailleur and XG-1391 10-46 cassette, delivers very precise shifting at a modest weight. On the long, steady climbs of the Caroux, you keep a smooth cadence without changing chainring, and the HPR40 assist evens out the steepest gradients.
The Aeolus RSL 37 carbon wheels reduce rotating mass, which you feel when accelerating and changing pace. The 35 mm Kwaremont RSL tyres with 320 tpi casing keep rolling resistance very low; when the assist cuts out, at 25 km/h, the bike keeps rolling with the liveliness of a road bike.
| Model | Frame | Motor | Drivetrain | Weight (size) |
| Domane+ SL 7 AXS | OCLV 500 carbon | TQ HPR40, 40 Nm | SRAM Force XPLR AXS 1x13 | 11.47 kg (ML) |
| Domane+ SL 9 AXS | OCLV 500 carbon | TQ HPR40, 40 Nm | SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 | 11.00 kg (ML) |
| Domane+ SLR 9 | OCLV 800 carbon | TQ HPR60, 60 Nm | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 | 11.84 kg (56) |
| Domane+ SLR 7 | OCLV 800 carbon | TQ HPR60, 60 Nm | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | 12.65 kg (56) |
Our take: the SL 9 AXS (11.00 kg in ML) is 470 g lighter than the SL 7 AXS and 840 g lighter than the HPR60-powered Domane+ SLR 9 (11.84 kg in 56). The SLR 9 keeps the advantage of 60 Nm of torque and double-chainring Dura-Ace Di2.

LVR sizing advice The Domane+ SL comes in XS to XL. Trek puts the ML between 173 and 179 cm and the L between 179 and 188 cm; handlebar width (36 to 42 cm) and stem length (80 to 120 mm) change with the size. If you are between two sizes, a measurement in store will settle it.
