Who is it for?

The LVR workshop view

50 mm tyres for leaving the tarmac behind. The Dual Sport+ 2 LT combines the Hyena system (40 Nm motor in the rear hub, torque sensor, 250 Wh battery in the Alpha Gold frame) with 650b wheels fitted with 50 mm Bontrager GR0 Comp tyres. That air volume cushions dirt tracks and gravel that the 40 mm tyres of an FX+ handle less well.

What it meansThe most at home on trailsThe most practical day to dayMid-drive motor, more torque

In other words: the Dual Sport+ 2 LT is Trek's light e-bike for mixing roads and gravel tracks, at 17.35 kg in M. It leaves out mudguards and a rear rack to keep the bike lively, so you can equip it to suit your use.

The 50 mm tyre changes the way it behaves on trails: lower pressure, more grip and noticeable comfort on gravel, without the weight of a suspension fork. Combined with the hub motor and its torque sensor, it lets you get going again on loose ground without wheelspin.

The Shimano hydraulic brakes with MT200 levers and 160 mm rotors provide progressive braking, even in wet weather. The 8-speed 11-40 cassette gives you a low gear for rocky ramps; above 25 km/h, the assistance cuts out and it's over to you.

Our take: the Dual Sport+ 2 LT weighs 17.35 kg in M, barely more than the Midstep version (17.28 kg), but gains hydraulic brakes and 50 mm tyres. The more urban FX+ 2 LT adds mudguards and a rear rack for 17.75 kg.
