For someone getting back on a bike after years away, or who finds it uncomfortable to swing a leg over a conventional frame. The low frame lets you get on and put a foot down without apprehension, and having no gears makes it instantly easy to ride.
Lowstep and belt drive: get on without lifting your leg. The Lowstep frame drops the top tube right down: you step through in front of the saddle when stopped, even in a skirt or with a bag on the rack. Here Trek pairs it with a single-speed Gates Sidetrack drivetrain, a toothed belt that needs neither oil nor degreaser. The Alpha Smooth aluminium keeps the cables inside the tubes.
| Gates belt, 1-speed (B LS) | Shimano ESSA, 8-speed (R8 LS) | Shimano CUES, 10-speed (R10 LS) | |
| How it works | One belt, a single ratio | Derailleur, 8 gears | Linkglide derailleur, 10 gears |
| Maintenance | Tension check at each service | Chain to grease regularly | Reinforced chain to grease |
| Lowstep version | 20.50 kg (M), 360 Wh | 21.70 kg (M), 360 Wh | 22.40 kg (M), 600 Wh |
| What it means | Zero mechanical worries, short journeys | A gear for every gradient | The longest-range Lowstep |
In short: at 20.50 kg in M, the Inbound+ 2 B LS is the lightest version in the entire Inbound+ 2 range. Low frame, belt drive, 360 Wh: it's the electric city bike pared down to the essentials, for riding in everyday clothes without ever thinking about the mechanics.
The hub motor pushes the bike progressively: with the first press on the pedal, the assistance kicks in without throwing the rider forward. That's reassuring when you're regaining confidence. Assistance cuts out at 25 km/h, and the Bosch Purion 200 control shows the chosen mode and battery level on a small display on the bar.
The cockpit is adjustable: the Bontrager stem changes angle to bring the bar closer or higher, and the 690 mm lowriser bar brings your hands back towards you. You get an upright position, a relaxed back and your head up to see and be seen. The Shimano hydraulic brakes work with your fingertips, without squeezing hard.
| Model | Motor / battery | Drivetrain | Frame | Weight (size) |
| Inbound+ 2 B LS | Bosch hub 45 Nm / 360 Wh | Gates belt, 1-speed | Lowstep | 20.50 kg (M) |
| Inbound+ 2 B 540 LS | Bosch hub 45 Nm / 540 Wh | Gates belt, 1-speed | Lowstep | 21.40 kg (M) |
| Inbound+ 2 R8 LS | Bosch hub 45 Nm / 360 Wh | Shimano ESSA 8-speed | Lowstep | 21.70 kg (M) |
| Inbound+ 2 R10 LS | Bosch hub 45 Nm / 600 Wh | Shimano CUES 10-speed | Lowstep | 22.40 kg (M) |
Our take: at 20.50 kg in M, this belt-drive Lowstep is 1.20 kg lighter than the eight-speed R8 LS. If your journey includes steep climbs, the eight gears are worth those 1.20 kg; on the flat, the belt remains unbeatable for simplicity.

LVR sizing advice The Lowstep comes from size S, which Trek intends for 147 to 155 cm. Thanks to the low frame, step-over is hardly an issue: you choose mainly by saddle height and riding position. Sizes S and M have a 70 mm stem, L and XL a 110 mm stem.
