For the mountain biker who races XC but also does a lot of training on varied trails, and wants a race bike that is reliable in every situation. It will appeal to riders who prefer an understated look, from S to XL.
OCLV Mountain: the foundation of the race Procalibers. This 9.7 is built on the OCLV carbon Trek has produced since 1992, here in a mountain bike version whose layup prioritises strength against impacts; its frames benefit from the brand's lifetime warranty. The rear end uses IsoBow, an arched junction between the seatstays and seat tube that works like a flexible leaf spring and absorbs some of the chatter. The rest of the build is that of a race bike: carbon wheels, RSL integrated cockpit, cable-free SRAM GX AXS.
| OCLV Mountain (Procaliber 9.x) | Alpha Platinum (Procaliber 6 / 8) | Alpha Silver (Marlin) | |
| Level | Trek's mountain bike carbon, lifetime frame warranty | High-end aluminium | Entry-level MTB aluminium |
| Construction | OCLV process, layup focused on impact resistance, IsoBow | Internal cables, threaded BSA, UDH | Simple, robust design |
| Reference bike (M) | Procaliber 9.7: 11.38 kg | Procaliber 8: 12.78 kg | Marlin 7: 14.15 kg |
| What it means | Lighter, rear end flexes over bumps | Heavier, no IsoBow | Versatile, noticeably heavier |
In short: this version of the 9.7 keeps the carbon wheels, SID and GX AXS, but rolls on Maxxis Rekon Race EXO tyres and an Eagle 90 chainset. Trek quotes 11.38 kg in M, 800 g above the version with Sainte-Anne RSL tyres: better-protected tyres for rock gardens, slightly less liveliness.
The four-piston Motive Bronze brakes, paired with a 180 mm rotor, offer reassuring power and modulation on the long descents towards Lodève or the steep slopes of the Caroux. Their fluid is easy to bleed in the workshop, a job we recommend every season.
The 750 mm wide RSL integrated bar-stem in OCLV carbon gives precise steering and a light cockpit. Its -13 degree angle puts the hands low, in a race position: if you prefer a more upright posture, we will talk it over together before handover.
| Model | Frame | Drivetrain | Fork | Weight (M) |
| Procaliber 9.6 | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type 1x12 | Fox Factory 34, 130 mm | 12.38 kg |
| Procaliber 9.7 (Rekon Race) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | SID 120 mm | 11.38 kg |
| Procaliber 9.7 (RSL tyres) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | SID 120 mm | 10.58 kg |
| Supercaliber SL 9.7 (full suspension) | OCLV Mountain | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | 80 mm rear / 110 mm front | 12.18 kg |
Our take: at 11.38 kg in M, this 9.7 is 1 kg lighter than the 9.6 and adds wireless shifting and carbon wheels. Compared with the full-suspension Supercaliber SL 9.7 GX AXS (12.18 kg), it saves 800 g but gives up the rear shock.

LVR sizing advice The one-piece RSL cockpit measures 60 mm in S and 80 mm from M to XL according to Trek: the position is race-oriented, fairly low. If you are between two sizes, the smaller one raises your posture slightly; a bike fit will settle the question.

| Are the brakes enough in the mountains? | Yes, the four-piston Motive Bronze brakes are powerful, with a 180 mm rotor. |
| Is the position too low? | The bar-stem is angled at -13°; spacers allow the height to be adjusted a little. |
| AXS battery for racing? | Charge it the day before; it easily covers several rides. |
| Does the black show the dirt? | It hides small scratches well and keeps its looks after a rinse. |

The LVR Cycles verdict A versatile Procaliber 9.7, fast in races and reassuring in training thanks to its four-piston brakes. Its deep black gives it an understated, efficient look.
