Trek Wahoo 26 Path Blue Sage: the last step before an adult bike

The Trek Wahoo 26 Path is the biggest of the Wahoo bikes: 26-inch wheels, 152 mm cranks and a 300 mm seatpost for young riders from 1.46 to 1.60 m. Trek quotes it at 10.20 kg in one size, with 8 microSHIFT gears and V-brakes. Blue Sage is a soft teal, between blue and sage green.

Who is it for?

For the pre-teen who has outgrown a 24-inch bike but is still too small for an adult bike. For the trip to secondary school, rides on greenways and family outings of several dozen kilometres.

Alpha Silver aluminium for the last bike before an adult one. The Wahoo 26 Path is the biggest in the family. Trek keeps the Alpha Silver alloy and alloy fork, but lengthens the cranks to 152 mm and the seatpost to 300 mm to keep up with fast-growing pre-teens.

In other words: the 26 Path weighs only 400 g more than the 24 Path, yet it fits young riders up to 1.60 m. It is the natural stepping stone to a first adult bike.

The 152 mm cranks and 300 mm seatpost keep up with growing legs: your child keeps proper leg extension as the saddle is raised. This is what allows the 26 Path to last several seasons through a period of rapid growth.

26-inch wheels roll over small obstacles more easily and hold their momentum better than 24-inch ones. On the long straights of the Canal du Midi, your child keeps up speed with less effort.

Which Wahoo should you choose?

Our take: the Wahoo 26 Path weighs only 400 g more than the Wahoo 24 Path (9.80 kg). Between 1.46 and 1.50 m, both fit: the 26-inch lasts longer, the 24-inch is easier to handle.
