The X-One-G mechanism with a hard-wearing chromoly axle

Want LOOK's race gravel platform without chasing the last gram? The X-One-G Max uses the same machined aluminium body, the same 650 mm² contact area and the same patented single-sided mechanism as the titanium version, but runs on a chromoly axle. The result: 145 g per pedal (manufacturer data) and reassuring durability for trails, long rides and amateur races season after season.

Features

  • Single-sided clipless gravel pedal, compatible with 2-bolt SPD cleats
  • 145 g per pedal, 340 g per pair with cleats
  • 650 mm² contact area on a 67 mm wide platform
  • Q-factor 53 mm; total stack of 16.8 mm with cleat
  • Machined alloy body (recycled), chromoly axle
  • Two ball bearings and one steel plain bearing, protected by contact seals
  • Tension adjustment from 5 to 10; 6° float; 13° release
  • 2-year LOOK warranty, 3 years if you register the pedal

X-One-G Max or X-Track Race Carbon?

It's a question we often hear in store. The Race Carbon is a dual-sided pedal with a carbon body, more versatile for riders who mix gravel, XC mountain biking and sections on foot; it also offers a wider tension range (6 to 14). The X-One-G Max prioritises support: its platform is more than 130 mm² larger than the Race Carbon's and engagement is crisper. It was designed for gravel racing, less for repeated hike-a-bike. And if weight really matters, the X-One-G Ti shares everything with it except the axle, saving 25 g on each side.

LVR workshop tip

Our first step: check sole compatibility. A shoe with very tall lugs can prevent the platform from bearing properly; moving the cleat forwards or backwards is often enough to restore contact. As for the spring, stay at the bottom of the range while you get used to single-sided entry, then tighten by one or two clicks. Finally, keep an eye on cleat wear: a rounded cleat gives a feeling of play that has nothing to do with the pedal.
